If Trump was everything his supporters say he is, he’d be working with National Links Trust to renovate the historic Blue Course. He’d maintain all 3 courses on site. He’d invest in the existing facility and grounds. He’d repair the seawall. He’d pave Ohio Drive.
If he did that, I’d be the first one out there petitioning to rename Ohio Drive “Trump Way.”
But he’s not doing any of that. He’s not doing this for us. He’s not doing this for you.
He’s doing this for himself.

Tocchet took every opportunity to rip Michkov last year about his off-season. 15 games in after MM had a stellar off-season and is 5th in the NHL in goals on a team that can’t score and Tocchet takes another shot at him.
No clue how the front office can do nothing about this.

I would like an update to civil law where anyone who makes money posting video of strangers on the internet can be sued by that stranger for every dime they made monetizing on that content (plus pain and suffering)

For record-tying seventh straight year, D.C. United fails to qualify for MLS playoffs — a humiliating absurdity in a playoff-happy league.
DCU hasn’t won a playoff game in 11 years.
Players, coaches, GMs and technical directors have come and gone.
One constant.

I think the next few years are going to be rough for D.C.
But it's also important to remember that, if we actually play our cards right, this city still has incredible potential. Even post-DOGE, the District's economic makeup is still playing in its favor.

This whole thing is just so disgusting.
Take a 130 year old public park, the running road, the mini golf, the playground, the cherry blossoms, the golf course, all of it, and turn it into one thing almost nobody asked for.
This was never just a golf course. It was a park for everyone, built for everyone, for over a century. People have said, over and over, at hearings, at rallies, in court, that they don’t want this. And still they push forward.
This park belongs to the people. It does not belong to one man's ego. So disgusting.

wild ruling out of Seattle that @PHLCouncil needs to read. a builder put $39M into 254 low-income apartments locked at 60% AMI for 30 years. from 2015 to 2018 it worked, collecting ~94% of rent.
then Seattle stacked on "tenant protections": banned criminal background checks, banned winter evictions, required 180 days notice for rent hikes + 3 months relocation pay, and forced the owner to let unscreened roommates move in and take over leases.
result: rent collections dropped from 93.9% to 44.1%!!! the building lost nearly $6M through 2023 ($2.7M in 2023 alone) and is now appraised as functionally worthless. the city bankrupted actual affordable housing lol.
the appeals court just ruled the owner can sue Seattle for an unconstitutional taking. when you strip a landlord's right to screen, collect rent or remove non-paying tenants, it's not "regulation" anymore, you took the building…. Philly has half these laws already 🙄 courts.wa.gov/opinions/pdf/8…

Hamilton’s Bar and Grill near Capitol hosting Brewers watch party tonight - $2 PBRs and Miller High Life.
To call the council childish for policies like this is obvious, and wrong. They are not children; they are adults using the dwindling city coffers to purchase votes. DC is doomed if this continues.

A federal judge has blocked further tree removal at East Potomac with a preliminary injunction, and the opinion is a masterclass in calling out the government’s story.
The opinion opens with “rarely, if ever, has the United States DoJ urged a federal court not to believe the sitting President.”
The government has spent months saying no final plan, meanwhile they felled 500+ trees on a Saturday morning in October under the claim of “usual maintenance”
Judge calls out the duplicity: “it makes zero sense for the agency to have cut down hundreds of healthy, mature, and non invasive trees” under the pretext of restoring the historic course while preparing for a massive overhaul on the presidents wishes.
Wischer, that scheming and disgusting weasel, was found to be not credible - his characterization of the cutting as “‘cleaning up’ the course is borderline farcical.”
Judge asserts that the Washington National Plan likely exists and likely final.
The ending of the filing: “The Court earlier stated, ‘I am not the Lorax. I do not speak for the trees.’ The Court still does not speak for the trees. It speaks only for the rule of law. “

The fact that the president of the United States has spent a single waking moment thinking about this decadent vanity project should be a source of deep, everlasting shame to anyone who ever supported him.
Good article today from the NYT. I have still yet to hear one good reason why we should get rid of a broad, multi purpose space to satisfy one thing and one thing only. It defies imagination and what PUBLIC space is meant to be.

People don’t want their food or their restaurants to be politicized. The vast majority of people do NOT mix politics and food.
DC has been through this before. I-77 was a solution in search of a problem. The pandemic broke the local industry to the point that folks gave up when I-82 came around. And now we are in a situation where neighborhood restaurants are closing regularly.
These outside voices don’t represent the priorities of DC. And they don’t care about our city.

Meanwhile there are people who lose their minds trying to argue that food isn’t political.

The thing to remember with the Sixers is they will have pressure points. Watch the ball movement out of it. Embiid brings it up has a cross match, defense helps. Kick, gets it back, more help, right to Edgecombe for 3.
