A major Yandex cyberattack has caused widespread outages for Yandex Direct and Yandex Bank services. The incident has halted critical digital operations.
Between October 11th and 14th, 2026, significant digital disruptions crippled key infrastructure, forcing the suspension of court procedures and halting normal operations. We analyze the impact of this Russian bank outage on daily digital commerce and the broader operational network.
While Yandex Pay is gradually returning, engineers continue the complex service restoration process to bring full functionality back online. Subscribe for regular updates on regional infrastructure stability, and comment below on how you see these disruptions affecting the market. If a bigger outage hits Sberbank or VTB, Stanimir warns it could trigger a run on the banks.

Kherson Weekly: 12-18 October 2026
This Week: 89 Civilian Casualties from Russian Aggression – 5 Killed, 84 Wounded
Civilian casualties spiked this week due to Russian aerial bombing of the Shumenskyi microdistrict in Korabelnyi Raion, Kherson, on 17 October. An ambulance driver in his 60s and a 58-year-old man were killed, and over 50 civilians were wounded — 15 men, 32 women, and three children, including a one-month-old boy, an 11-year-old girl, and a 12-year-old boy. Three wounded adults were medical personnel — two female nurses and a male paramedic. A fourth child victim was reported today. Ten apartment buildings, a supermarket, administrative buildings, private and municipal transport were damaged.
Using Russian-released footage, Ukraine Daily Update Map geolocations, and Ukrainian casualty reports, I preliminarily matched three casualties to Russian drone footage — a 73-year-old man wounded on 12 Oct. (video 2), a 67-year-old man killed earlier in Oct. (video 1), and a 50-year-old man wounded on 14 Oct. (video 3). These are preliminary and subject to change upon emergence of additional evidence.
In the past week, Russian drone attacks killed at least three civilians and wounded at least 18 more. Since 2024, Russian drone attacks have killed 454 people and wounded 4,554 more in the Human Safari across Kherson Oblast.
Russian drone attacks fell to their lowest level since late 2025-early 2026, with 2,013 attacks recorded by the Kherson Oblast Administration.
This trend continues as the 50th Unmanned Systems Brigade “Varyag” has been pulled from the Kherson Direction to slow Operation Vivaldi in Lyman. Varyag has also focused on Zaporizhzhia, where Russian units have targeted public transport, civilian vehicles, and gas stations for several months now.
Unit movement and changes in Russian General Staff priorities are likely contributing to the decrease in drone terror in Kherson. Still “human safari” attacks continue, albeit less frequently than in the past 6 months, according to data from local Ukrainian authorities.

As major battles unfold in Donbas, @WarUnitObserver examines the restructuring and reinforcement of what are often called the “fortress cities.”
Focusing on developments since summer 2026, the thread examines Ukrainian forces' movements 🇺🇦 across the region.
Read the thread below ⬇️
🇺🇦Ukrainian reinforcements deploy to the “fortress cities”
As the final battles for Donbas seem to be looming on the horizon, the new 🇺🇦command team led by Maj. Gen. Mykhailo Drapatyi might be drastically restructuring the frontline in the region.
Following Syrskyi’s replacement in the summer, a decision was made to split the area of operations in Donetsk oblast between two new force groupings:
🔵 UV Center, under Brig. Gen. Biletskyi, in charge of the sector between Borova (Kharkiv oblast) and Druzhkivka
🔵UV Azov, under Brig. Gen. Prokopenko, in charge of the sector between Druzhkivka and Novopavlivka (Dnipropetrovsk oblast)
The defense of Donbas, and more specifically of its fortress belt, now rests on these two command bodies.
UV Center is entrusted with the larger cities of Slovyansk and Kramatorsk, while UV Azov guards its right flank on the Pokrovsk-Dobropillya axis of advance.
The crucial importance this sector holds was highlighted in August 2025, when Russian forces attempted to break through northeast of Dobropillya.
Their maximalist objective was the city of Barvinkove, a key logistical hub for the defense of the fortress cities.
The Main Supply Routes (MSRs) connecting Dnipro to Kramatorsk, Slovyansk and Izyum all pass through Barvinkove.
For the Ukrainians, the loss of Barvinkove would put the fortress belt at risk of encirclement.
For the Russians, occupying the fortress belt would complete the capture of Donbas.
