Reading some interesting history: British army refused to use telegram at the early stages of the Crimea War (1853-1856) because they thought it was unnecessary and unsure. 20 years later, Western Union, then the dominant of US telegram business rejected the opportunity of launching world’s first telephone network, believing it was a useless toy. In late 1980s, most of futurists missed out on predicting the Internet revolution. People are very bad in understanding and evaluating information network technologies, from telegram to telephone to internet, now probably blockchain/web3.
