“It's feeling vs. choice. Are you going to do what you feel like doing or are you going to choose to do the things you need to do to accomplish the goals that you have?"
Average players make an effort when they 'feel like it.'
Great players choose to make a relentless effort.

Student athletes..
Leave nothing up to chance. You can’t skip meals, stay up late and bypass your post-workout nutrition.
If you claim you want to get better, hit PRs, and earn a scholarship to compete at the next level you’ll need to do what others won’t!
That means the basics!
➡️3-5 balanced meals including fruits & veggies
➡️100+ oz of H20
➡️7-10 hours of sleep
➡️Protein + carbs around training
➡️Never miss breakfast
➡️Avoid fried and ultra processed foods
You don’t need daily Starbucks and Chick-fil-A you need to meal prep and stick to a routine!

A student athlete's day off:
-Walk
-Mobility
-Watch film
-Extra sleep
-Meal prep
-Heat or sauna
-Hydrate and refuel with Whole Foods
-Something fun and easy with friends
Rest days are just as important as training days. Don't skip your rest days! Rest days are part of athlete health and success!

You’re partially right that some pro athletes can get away with poor habits for a while but that doesn’t mean it “doesn’t matter.”
At every level, there’s strong evidence that athletes who prioritize nutrition, hydration, and sleep see measurable benefits: fewer injuries, faster recovery, better strength output, improved endurance, and more consistent performance.
That gap becomes even more important for high school athletes, especially multi-sport athletes. They don’t have the same recovery resources as pros, and they’re still developing physically.
When nutrition and sleep are dialed in, their bodies handle stress better, adapt to higher training loads, and stay healthier over the course of a season.
I’ve seen this firsthand with athletes I work with when we improve fueling and sleep, we see real changes in recovery time, fatigue levels, and overall performance.
The goal should be giving your body the best chance to perform and stay durable long term. Hard work prevails where talent fails.

Mamdani’s city-run grocery store is 10x more expensive than Whole Foods per square foot.
This comes as no surprise. Whole Foods founder @iamjohnmackey understands the beauty of capitalism:
"Capitalism created the possibility of the win win win. It used to be a zero sum game where somebody won, somebody else lost.
The biggest mistake people make, intellectuals in particular, they still think we're in a zero sum world. They're obsessed with some billionaires because Bernie Sanders thinks that Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk somehow stole the money from the people.
They don't understand that it's this prosperity machine that's creating more, not just for those billionaires, but for everything that they're touching. They're creating value for their customers, they're creating value for their employees. Their suppliers are flourishing, their investors are seeing their capital go up. It can be reinvested and compound.
All philanthropy ultimately comes from business. That's where the profits are.
Where does all the taxes come from? It ultimately comes from business as well.
This is the engine that's lifting humanity out. The entrepreneurs are the drivers of that engine. Somebody like Elon Musk, he gets a very, very, very tiny sliver of the value that he creates for the whole world."

What's the best predictor of world-class performance in runners?
Volume of Training.
You've got to spend a lot of time doing the thing if you want to get good at just about anything.

🏆Elite athletes do these things:
•Sleep 8-11 hrs/night
•Eat two breakfasts
•Snack on protein + carbs
•Eat 2-5 fruits and veggies daily
•Avoid screens before bed and before activity
•Fuel up with 3-4 meals that contain all food groups
•Drink milk at meals & H20 in between to stay hydrated
•Refuel & rehydrate post-training with plenty of carbs + protein + fluids
Gushers, candy bars, soda, or a bag of potato chips aren’t healthy snacks for anyone let alone student athletes on game day! Nutrition is your secret weapon! 🔥

Knee Osteoarthritis: Thread Number 3
The most powerful intervention for knee osteoarthritis is not a pill, not an injection, and not a surgery. It's not PRP and certainly not stem cells.
It is the muscle above and below the joint.
If you have knee OA and you are not doing targeted strength training, you are leaving the most effective treatment on the table. 🧵

A big regret from my 25+ year running career is that I didn't lift weights.
If I lifted, I wouldn't have gotten hurt so often (and missed so many races). I'd probably be faster, too!
Avoid my mistake and get started with weightlifting today:
