not to be too cynical but the point of their business model is to ensure they can let whoever go whenever. fans would need to care more about the streamers than about the brand for that to change and, by and large, they don't. if they did they would watch streamers, not hololive
Kycilia was going to invent the iPhone as soon as she got back to side 3 if Char hadn't done that

It’s funny how this is mostly a nonsense argument (there’s plenty of good right-wing art and it’s not some moral imperative to pretend like it doesn’t exist) but then all the right-wing replies are unironically Lord of the Rings and Halo 3

No One Picked Up Life is Strange: Double Exposure GDC Award Because "We All Got Laid Off"
Life is Strange: Double Exposure was a huge disappointment for its publisher Square Enix and the fans who played it. There are several reasons for its Mixed rating on Steam, and one of them is the bizarre decision of the company to send DMCA notices to players criticizing the absence of Chloe Price, the protagonist's love interest in the original game, on Reddit.
Despite that, Double Exposure got the Social Impact Award at GDC 2025, which "advances equality, justice, intersectionality, and/or sustainability," but there was nobody to receive it.
"I sit backstage at these gaming award shows, interviewing winners as they come through with their trophies. Nearly every game that won had people coming through, beaming with their trophy in hand. It stood out that, for Life is Strange, which won the Social Impact award, there was no one," said journalist Stephen Totilo.
So what happened? The answer is quite tragic: the developers had been let go.
"It's fitting that nobody was there to accept the GDCA award that Double Exposure won, because we all got laid off lol … (Don't be sad for me, I am very lucky and I work on BitLife now and I love it)," former Deck Nine narrative designer and writer Elizabeth Ballou shared (via PC Gamer.)
Developer Deck Nine suffered two waves of layoffs last year, the most recent being in December due to "deteriorating market conditions in the gaming industry."
The whole situation is a huge mess as Ballou said that "a bunch of us are at GDC, but we didn't know we were even nominated so nobody was prepared to accept anything".
This sounds like Square Enix and Deck Nine completely gave up on the game and decided to forget about it as if it were a nightmare. I don't know what kind of miscommunication happened there, but hopefully, it won't happen again, as it's just awkward for everyone involved and draws even more attention to issues inside the company.
speed of light: 300k km/s
300k km/s * 30s = 9 million km
=> RTT of 30s implies one-way distance of ~4.5 million km
distance from Earth's surface to the moon: ~4 million km

this feels like such a doomed argument. this video doesn't "say nothing", every frame in it is dripping with white supremacy. if your only argument against this stuff is "nobody wants it!" what do you do when people want it?

the netflix bingewatch release cadence is all about turning fans into passive consumers. it quashes the creativity of fan communities by removing the seven days of going insane between episodes during which fanartists do their best work
the fact that evangelion actually just is that good makes the experience of rewatching it now after decades of it being a signature pick of posers & casuals so crazy. it's like if you decided to check how Death Note has held up and it turned out it's been Monster all along

That’s the problem. The ceasefire Israel/Hamas just agreed to is identical to the one proposed in May, which Hamas also agreed to. This means Biden let tens of thousands of people die because he was unwilling to use his leverage to pressure Israel to end the genocide.
"This is the ceasefire agreement I introduced last spring," adds President Biden.

it should really give you pause that the guys crying over having to slow down their genocide are saying Kamala would have been better

this confirms what everyone knew; Biden actively supported the genocide of Palestinians, and that will be his legacy
the US still decides the course of war in the Middle East, let's see how that will playout for the U.A.E's genocidal war in Sudan as the RSF loses ground.
Israel has capitulated on several factors, allowing for a deal to be reached:
* Isreal has agreed to withdraw FULLY from Gaza leaving no troops or security zone. That includes a full withdrawal from the Philadelphi corridor.
* It has agreed to allow Hamas to rule Gaza. That is not in the agreement, but there is also no mechanism to remove Hamas.
* Israel has agreed not to exile released prisoners but rather let them into Gaza again.
* Israel has waived its demand for a list of live hostages.
* It has agreed to allow residents to return to northern Gaza with only symbolic security measures.
* Israel agreed to accept dead bodies in the first stage.
All of these were red lines for Israel at one point. It is remarkable that all of them are being waived. The victory for Hamas is remarkable.
The reason this happened is clear. Despite incredible victories on the battlefield, Israel has not offered a political program to replace Hamas or moved to remove them from Gaza as a governing force. It has failed to translate IDF gains into political ones. That has, in essence, nullified all of its military achievements.
