#WATCH | Mumbai, Maharashtra: On actress Dia Mirza's pollution-free Diwali campaign, AIMIM leader Waris Pathan says, "The Bombay High Court issued a directive, an order, addressing the issues of noise pollution and health hazards associated with the upcoming Diwali festival in Mumbai. The court directed that firecrackers should not be burst in lanes, on public roads, or on footpaths... In response, several prominent figures, including film actress and social activist Dia Mirza and others, made statements. They all urged the public to avoid bursting firecrackers in lanes and streets across Mumbai, with the goal of preventing health problems and noise pollution. So, I must ask: why this selective outrage? Isn't this hypocrisy? Isn't this duplicity? If you really had to speak up, you could have spoken about others too..."

Same appeal, same High Court directive, but different reactions? That’s not standing up for tradition; that’s selective outrage and a glaring double standard.

BJP the ruling party in the BMC has forced the civic administration to take down a video featuring actor Dia Mirza, uploaded by @mybmc on it’s social media page as part of its Diwali campaign urging citizens to avoid firecrackers and noise pollution.
The BMC’s campaign also features actors Madhuri Dixit and Nishigandha Wad, and cricketer Ajinkya Rahane. Their videos, however, continue to remain on the civic body’s social media page.
BJP Mumbai president Ameet Satam objected to Mirza’s video in a post on X, tagging @mybmc and writing: “We don’t need lessons on how to celebrate #Diwali from @deespeak. Our traditions are deeply rooted in our culture.”

जमानत पर रिहा होने के बाद ED द्वारा सपा नेता आजम खान को हिरासत में लेने पर AIMIM नेता वारिस पठान ने कहा, "यह बहुत ही दुखद है और अफसोस वाली बात है कि 11 महीने जेल में रहने के बाद उनको और उनके बेटे को अदालत ने बरी कर दिया और बाहर आते ही उनको ED ने अपनी हिरासत में ले लिया। मुसलमान होने की सजा मुझे मिल रही है; यह उनके अल्फाज हैं। सोचिए कि भारत देश के अंदर मुसलमानों का क्या हाल हो गया है। हम वही मुसलमान हैं जिन्होंने आजादी की जंग में अपनी जान गवाई और भारत देश आजाद हुआ। कहां थी ये भाजपा और RSS? मुझे बताओ कि कितने RSS वालों ने आजादी की जंग में हिस्सा लिया और अपनी जान गवाई..."

Today, as he stepped out of Rampur jail, Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials arrived to question him and placed him under arrest. When questioned, he clearly stated, 'This is the punishment for being a Muslim.' These were his exact words. Just consider the plight of Muslims in the country today! These are the very Muslims who sacrificed their lives in the freedom struggle to secure India's independence. Tell me, how many RSS workers sacrificed their lives or contributed to India's freedom movement?"
