🔥 TRUE STORY. THE EAGLE’S NEST SCENE FROM BAND OF BROTHERS.
Dick Winters and Easy Company rolled into The Eagle’s Nest on May 5, 1945 JUST THREE DAYS before Germany formally surrendered in WWII.
They had just come from Kaufering concentration camp. After fighting from Normandy to Bastogne… this was the first time they could actually let off steam.
They found Göring’s massive wine cellar (10,000+ bottles of top-shelf Bordeaux… champagne…. and cognac and drank it while sitting at Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest as the war in Europe ended.
VE Day was May 8. They spent it overlooking the Alps finishing off the Nazi leadership’s private stock.
The destruction today of that symbolic architectural masterpiece was as much an attack on the legacy of many our American troops who FINALLY were able to see the blood of their friends had shed for FREEDOM come to conclusion ATOP THAT MOUNTAIN.

When Dr. Will Flannery (@DGlaucomflecken) had a cardiac arrest during COVID, he received a $20,000 surprise bill form out-of-network physicians at the in-network hospital where he was taken. On the latest Knock Knock Hi podcast, he explains why the No Surprises Act matters and why insurers are now lobbying to change it.
His key points line up with the data:
1. Patients are protected. The law took them out of the middle and arbitration only decides what the insurer owes to the physician
2. Physicians win most disputes because independent arbitrators, choosing between two offers, keep finding that the insurer’s number is too low
3. Insurer benchmarks track Medicare, which has cut physician pay for decades based on budgetary guidelines and is not a neutral yardstick.
4. Winning isn’t only on paper. Federal rules require payment within 30 days of an award, yet insurers routinely drag it out for months and don’t pay on roughly 40% of all claims.
His final message: If Congress is going to revisit the NSA, then do it by enforcing prompt payment.

Just like his overlord, @elonmusk , calacanis is losing his shit. calacanis is the guy who said, anticipating the firing of 80% of twitter employees, “sharpen up your blades, boys!” Kara just said that Dems would investigate Elon. It’s called reporting.
Jason Calacanis calls Kara Swisher a "Karen" and hypocrite for attacking Elon’s SpaceX share gift while saying Democrats should put him in jail
“I think she had multiple videos. One of them is it’s only one share and that they should just give money directly to people. And, it’s obviously what the reason that’s incredibly stupid is you should give any possible gift that people are willing to give and forcing people to hold on to it makes them part of capitalism."
"And Kara Swisher makes $10 million a year from her podcast. She talks about it all the time. She is of the 0.1 or 0.01%. She should give half of her podcasting revenue if she’s so virtuous to Invest America accounts."
"And she’s also saying they should be putting Elon in jail and that the Democrats are going to do that if they win. So there’s like kind of a doubling there. But she’s, she’s a Karen and she’s a hypocrite.”

By my count, there are 14 clinical trials testing drugs with totally new targets at ESMO.
These include:
The first inhibitor of the (previously undruggable) β-catenin-TCF interaction — Parabalis Medicines.
The first clinical PIP4K2C degrader, triggers metabolic stress — Larkspur Bioscience.
The first clinical TNFR2-targeting (Treg-depleting) antibody, a new immunotherapy strategy — BioInvent.

1/The math tells the story on healthcare affordability—and spoiler alert—it’s not physicians, hospitals, ASCs, the NSA, or the “dog ate my term paper” type excuses.
@AnthemBCBS or whatever they are called this week (Elevance) Q3 ‘26 net profit is reported below.
Elevance is the largest BCBS owner in the US—14 plans—and @AnthemBCBS Q1-3 ‘26 profit was $4.592B.
Add that net profit from Little Brother (Elevance) to Big Brother @UHC’s Q1-3 ‘26 net profit ($15.874B) and only 2 health plan’s net profits so far total $20,464,000,000.
And this $20+B total is X of @Humana, @Aetna @Cigna & smaller commercial for-profit health plans. Note that the other ~36 @BCBSAssociation plans are “non-profit” (read non-tax paying), so we don’t receive quarterly reports on their “profits” which they call a “surplus.”
So, let’s not listen for one second to the health plans and their associations point the finger of “un-affordability” to physicians and hospitals when the plans’ net profits so far are well into 11 figures—w/ another quarter of profits yet to be reported.

I am happy that you like
Medicare part C but that doesn’t make it a good program.
@BKRBusinessMin and Dr. Williams are correct.
A lot of physicians’ frustration with Medicare Advantage comes from watching it shortchange our patients.
Seniors may not realize the restrictions until they actually need care.
This is well documented. Federal investigators found that 13% of prior authorization denials reviewed in a 2022 report met Medicare’s coverage rules, including MRIs and rehab. Another review of 19 insurers found that 95% of appealed skilled nursing admission denials were overturned. Patients had to fight for care that ultimately got approved.
And it costs Medicare more. MedPAC estimates an extra $76 billion in 2026 compared with covering those same patients through traditional Medicare.
Yes, you get some toys on the front end. But that doesn’t make up for delayed or denied care on the back end.
There are many people lying on X about public Part C Medicare Advantage this time of year. @BKRBusinessMin & @BrentAWilliams2 are recent examples but the list of senior hating scum is long and disgusting. Medicare Advantage is the most popular optional Federal program ever

UnitedHealth Group’s corporate structure now comprises 2,807 entities—spanning insurance, physician practices, surgery centers, pharmacies, and other health businesses.
That scale isn't driving down costs for consumers or improving access to care. Premiums are skyrocketing. What are we paying for, and how does consolidation benefit consumers?
Talking to independent physicians, it's obvious that the big insurance carriers are doing to them, what their PBMs are doing to independent pharmacies.
They deny, underpay, slow pay, clawback, and create administrative mazes, knowing their victims don't have the time or resources to fight.
Why ? By putting financial pressures on physicians and pharmacies, it makes them more likely to sell their businesses to them , close their doors, or refer the business to their captive pharmacy or provider. All benefitting the biggest insurance companies
We need to ditch the concept of "claims" and make every delivery of medications or care as a billable event that must, by law, be paid on a timely basis , with interest charges for any delays. If the physician or pharmacy doesn't deliver , the carrier has plenty of legal options already. As does the patient.
This is not an efficient market. This is the big guy abusing the little guy. It needs to change to better the care we get in this country
