We are given two rules here. One, girls apparently need to be nearly the same age to pass the friendship vibe check. Two, boys will happily form tight squads across centuries, cosmic lifespans, and questionable countdowns on a scale that breaks all logic and reason.

Bottom panel shows three guys who are clearly not measuring friendship in calendar years. One reads like a regular adult, one has an age that sounds like a gym bench press, and the middle one is living in what may be a different era altogether.
The joke lands because we all accept this double standard without question.
This is not about biology or clerk paperwork. It is about cultural shorthand. Media and memes have trained us to accept that certain friendships are rooted in shared daily routines and similar life stages, while other friendships, especially action team friendships, are somehow immune to that logic. When you see it laid out with numbers, the contrast is ridiculous and delightful.
If nothing else, the meme is a reminder that chemistry, shared trauma, bizarro adventures, or a very persuasive hammer can erase any age gap. Also, this is officially permission to text your oldest friend and ask if they are still counting birthdays the same way you are.😂

My girlfriend’s best friend loves to visit our apartment whenever my girlfriend was away. I had to tell my girlfriend about it, but she never takes it serious, until I got her pregnant.
Me: “Hey, isn’t your best friend coming over a little too often?”
Girlfriend: “Why? She’s my best friend. What’s wrong with her visiting?”
Me: “Nothing. I’m just saying she’s always here whenever you’re not around.”
Girlfriend: “Maybe she likes your company. Don’t make it weird.”
One afternoon, her friend arrived with food.
Friend: “I brought you something to eat. I figured you might not have cooked.”
Me: “You didn’t have to do that.”
