Bail conditions: Suliman Carrim was granted R100,000 bail by the Pretoria Magistrates’ Court today in the case relating to his failure to appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry. Magistrate Marc Curlewis granted bail subject to strict conditions. Full bail conditions: Bail amount: R100,000. Attend court: He must attend all court proceedings unless expressly excused by the court. Surrender travel documents: His passport must remain with the investigating officer until the criminal trial is completed and his testimony before the Madlanga Commission has been finalised. Any other international travel documents must be surrendered within 24 hours of his release. No international travel: He may not leave South Africa without the court’s prior permission. No replacement passports: He may not apply for or obtain replacement passports or other international travel documents without the court’s prior written permission. Residence: He must reside at his verified residential address, unless the court authorises a change. Travel restrictions within South Africa: He may not leave the relevant magisterial district without the investigating officer’s prior written permission, which may not be unreasonably withheld. Weekly police reporting: He must report in person to a designated Police Station every Monday between 06:00 and 13:00. Contact details: He must provide the investigating officer with his current cellphone number. Medical incapacity: If he becomes medically unfit to attend court, he must notify his legal representative and the investigating officer, and provide a medical certificate or report from a registered medical practitioner. This must specify the nature and expected duration of his incapacity, and whether he is fit to travel and attend court. His legal representative must submit the medical evidence to the court for directions. A medical certificate alone does not excuse his absence. Madlanga Commission appearance: His legal representative must contact the commission within 48 hours of his release to arrange the logistics for his next appearance.
Suliman Carrim has been granted R100 000 bail. He must hand-over his passport and report to police every week. Carrim has also been ordered to make contact with the Madlanga Commission within 48 hours.

TSHWANE IMPLEMENTS OVERNIGHT WATER RESTRICTIONS AS SUPPLY NETWORK COMES UNDER PRESSURE The City of Tshwane has introduced temporary overnight water restrictions affecting several reservoirs and communities across Pretoria, Centurion, Akasia and Ga-Rankuwa as authorities attempt to stabilise the water supply network amid exceptionally high consumption. The intervention began at 18:00 on Wednesday, 28 October 2026, and will remain in place until 06:00 on Thursday, 29 October 2026. The City says selected reservoirs will have their water supply reduced or temporarily shut off to relieve pressure on upstream systems. Although the affected reservoirs currently have adequate water, exceptionally high consumption in their supply areas is placing significant strain on the broader network. 🔴 AREAS AFFECTED The restrictions affect the following reservoir supply areas: • Akasia: Amandasig, Rosslyn, The Orchards, Karen Park, Clarina, Dorandia, Florauna, Heatherview, Theresapark, Nina Park and surrounding areas. • Bakenkop: Eldoraigne, Clubview, Wierdapark, Hennopspark, Rooihuiskraal Noord, Celtisdal, Lyttelton and surrounding areas. • Erasmia: Erasmia, Christoburg, Sunderland Ridge and surrounding areas. • Erasmusrand: Erasmusrand, Waterkloof, Waterkloof Ridge and Erasmuskloof. • Ga-Rankuwa West and Industrial: Ga-Rankuwa, Ga-Rankuwa Industrial, Medunsa and surrounding areas. • Iscor: Kwaggasrand, Philip Nel Park, Pretoria Industrial, Proclamation Hill and West Park. • Lynnwood: Lynnwood, Lynnwood Manor, Menlo Park, Menlyn, Garsfontein, Koedoespoort and surrounding areas. • Meintjieskop: Arcadia, Bryntirion, Eastwood, Riviera, Villieria, Rietfontein, Prinshof and surrounding areas. • Murrayfield: Murrayfield, Meyerspark, La Montagne, Salieshoek and surrounding areas. • Parkmore LL: Faerie Glen, Constantia Park, Lynnwood Glen, Lynnwood Park, Newlands, Menlyn, Garsfontein and Waterkloof Glen. • Rooihuiskraal: Rooihuiskraal, Olievenhoutbosch, Heuweloord, Kosmosdal, The Reeds, Monavoni and surrounding areas. • The Reeds: The Reeds, Olievenhoutbosch and Rua Vista. Residents in these areas may experience low water pressure or temporary water supply interruptions during the intervention. 🔴 WHY ARE THE RESTRICTIONS NECESSARY? The City says reducing demand overnight should help balance the wider water network, stabilise Rand Water systems and improve the availability of water to communities experiencing shortages. The intervention is also intended to support the Klapperkop system and help sustain improved levels in the Garsfontein systems, where reservoir levels remain critically low and unstable. 🔴 WHEN WILL WATER SUPPLY RETURN TO NORMAL? The restrictions are scheduled to end at 06:00 on Thursday morning. However, the City has warned that water supply will be reopened gradually and that recovery times may differ across affected communities. Residents should therefore not assume that water pressure will return to normal immediately at 06:00. 🔴 CALL TO RESIDENTS The City is urging residents to use water strictly for essential needs during this period. Residents are asked to avoid watering gardens, washing vehicles and filling swimming pools to help reservoirs recover and reduce pressure on the network. The City has apologised for the inconvenience and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation. @CityTshwane

BREAKING: FRESH LEADS: The urgent application involving former Crime Intelligence head Major-General Mulangi Mphego to declare a high-profile police raid on his residence unlawful has been struck off roll. Breakthrough by SAPS who opposed the matter. CONTEX: Part A demanded the return of seized items including firearms, legal files, and his phone, while Part B sought to declare the operation unconstitutional. Mphego received R5,000 bail for alleged unlawful possession of ammunition recovered during the raid. The broader state probe involves sensitive files of the late Lt-Gen Sindile Mfazi. Mphego who denied the claims, now must appear for criminal case postponed to November 3, 2026. Story is developing @eNCA

THE DAILY PRACTICE THE QUESTION What if you are not behind? THE PARADOX You can lose time, make mistakes, miss opportunities and still not be finished. A delayed beginning is still a beginning. THE MIRROR Where have you mistaken regret for a verdict? THE SHIFT Perhaps your past explains where you are. It does not have to decide where you go next. THE PRACTICE Choose one thing you have quietly given up on. Take one small step towards it today. Send the message. Open the file. Make the call. Begin the first page. Just start. Then ask: What could still become possible if I stopped treating yesterday as the final word? Zibuse – at Mamelodi, South Africa

WORD OF THE DAY: ENDURANCE Not every battle is won through strength, nor is every mountain conquered through speed. Some victories belong to those who simply refuse to surrender. Endurance is the quiet determination to continue when excitement has faded, when applause has fallen silent and when the journey demands more from us than we imagined we could give. Life will test our patience, stretch our faith and occasionally force us to question whether the destination is worth the struggle. Endurance teaches us that resting is not quitting, asking for help is not weakness and changing our approach is not abandoning our purpose. The strongest among us are not necessarily those who never fall, but those who find the courage to rise again. I learned over the years that endurance is not about how long you can suffer, but how firmly your faith remains unrattled, your optimism never fails, and your hope gives you the strength to continue, even when the journey seems impossible. Keep going. The difficult road may still lead to a beautiful destination. Join the movement #ReHataMmoho #SelloHatang – at Mamelodi, South Africa

NOW: 267 ALLEGED DRUG DEALERS AMONGST 17 914 ARRESTED, MORE DRUG LABS DISMANTLED, RAW COCAINE WORTH R200 MIL SEIZED AT ORTIA, 164 ILLEGAL FIREARMS AND 1 425 ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION RECOVERED Detectives traced and arrested 2 851 of these individuals who are wanted for offences ranging from organised crime and drug trafficking to other serious offences in the last seven days. The SAPS continues to deal organised criminal networks involved in the manufacture, transportation, and distribution of illicit drugs a decisive blow. Just this past week alone, through intelligence-led operations, SAPS dismantled major drug supply chains and arrested 267 alleged drug dealers, while a further 3,039 suspects were apprehended for possession of drugs. Police in the Western Cape recorded the highest number suspects arrested for possession of drugs at 1,841. The ongoing fight against the illicit drug trade has delivered significant victories which include the seizure of raw cocaine valued at more than R200 million at the OR Tambo International Airport. The drugs had arrived on a flight from São Paulo, Brazil. Additionally, SAPS discovered and dismantled two drug laboratories during separate intelligence-driven operations in Gauteng and North West province. Crime Intelligence, in collaboration with the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI), uncovered a multi-million-rand drug manufacturing laboratory on a farm in Krugersdorp, Gauteng. Large quantities of Mandrax and ecstasy tablets were seized, and five South African nationals were arrested. Moreover, police arrested four suspects and dismantled a suspected clandestine drug laboratory in Ramokokastad, North West. Chemicals, specialised equipment, and materials believed to be used in the production of Mandrax and crystal meth were confiscated. In another drug bust, a team operating under OPERATION UKUBUZA has arrested a 38-year-old suspect in Gqeberha on Saturday, 17 October 2026, and seized drugs valued at over R9.7 million. @eNCA

We appeal to residents to only collect water from City of Tshwane water tankers or tankers that have been contracted or approved by the City. We have heard that private companies have taken interest to distribute water to residents without prior verification with the municipality. We appeal to independent contractors to present themselves to the Commando Building, corner of Lanham Street and Commando Street, Bronkhorstspruit, for verification, authorisation and water-quality testing by the City's Environmental Health Practitioners. @CityTshwane

THE DAILY PRACTICE THE QUESTION What if people are not treating you badly because they do not know better, but because you have taught them what you will tolerate? THE PARADOX You can demand respect while repeatedly accepting disrespect. Every boundary you refuse to enforce becomes information about how far someone can go. THE MIRROR Where are your words saying “enough” while your behaviour keeps saying “continue”? THE SHIFT Perhaps self-respect is not what you say you deserve. Perhaps it is what you consistently refuse to accept. THE PRACTICE Identify one behaviour you have tolerated too many times. Today, name it clearly and change your response. Do not threaten. Do not explain endlessly. Set the boundary and act accordingly. Then ask: What am I teaching people about how they are allowed to treat me? Zibuse – at Clayville, South Africa
