yo @TimSweenyy you should organise an AI game dev boycott where all AI game developers refuse to publish on steam and only publish on Epic
Tim Sweeney is criticizing Valve again over Steam’s requirement for developers to disclose their use of generative AI. The Epic Games CEO called the policy “abhorrent,” arguing that developers are being forced to make a “political statement” that could be used against them by a “hate mob.” Sweeney has been criticizing the policy since 2025, previously comparing the disclosure to a “Scarlet Letter” and arguing that AI will eventually be part of almost every game production process.

prediction markets as the latest form of political propaganda intended to shape public opinion & create a false sense of inevitability xitter.cf/TheStalwart/status/211…
Is this shaping up to be one of the biggest prediction market whiffs of all time?

Every time a genAI "game dev" says the AI usage disclosure is "punitive", they're lying. Or, more accurately, they're saying "people not wanting to buy my game is punitive". They're not deboosted or deranked for having it, they're not hidden in the store. It's not punitive.

The r/OpenSource subreddit has officially banned anything using AI. In any way. Violators will be permanently banned. Which means… r/OpenSource will ban anyone submitting anything that, in any way, involves… the Linux kernel. reddit.com/r/opensource/comm…

The consumers are the ones who want the labels.
im glad valve is finally getting shit for making devs write ai disclaimers. completely inappropriate and political practice, it was never pro-consumer to punish certain tool use.

Game developers who plan to release a game on #Steam: the time for a build review displayed is completely outdated! It used to be 3-5 days, but nowadays, it takes around 2 weeks for each round of review. You might need 4-6 weeks if have fixes to make. Plan accordingly!

An indie RTS wave is upon us. Defilade. ZeroSpace. Falling Frontier. GroundInFlames. And a dozen more. I did deep research on 16 emerging indie RTS titles. Four of them alone account for over 1.3 million Steam wishlists. Every game broken down: why it stands out, and what it says about where the genre is going. All in the next Tactical Gaming EXSUM on Monday. Sign up to get it in your inbox, and catch up on the first two installments while you're there (first reply). @Neucollective @PlayZeroSpace @StutterFox @DorfRTS @The_LastGeneral @VNWofficial @GConflagration @CalyxGame @klimbi123 @Grand_Tactician

so for all the people that think their phone has been listening and targeting ads even though it is almost impossible, it just might have been the tv in the room and that is basically verified xitter.cf/0x0SojalSec/status/211…
WTF, $3000 Samsung TV has an always-on mic, automatic content recognition, geo tracking, network mapping, and ships your data to Samsung + 400 partners. Bro Rooted a brand-new 2025 Samsung TV after noticing absurdly targeted ads. Firmware was locked down, so zero-days it was. Got a root shell. then found: always-on voice service, ACR, geo, full telemetry pipeline, and four separate DRM systems. This isn’t a bug, It’s the product bro.

Yes. Period. The moment I realize a game has GenAI assets, I lose all interest. I am not spending my hard earned money or limited time on a game that is just stopped commissioned from a computer. If you aren't passionate enough to actually make the game, why should I care?
AI-generated art in indie games: Would it stop you from buying a game you otherwise liked? Yes / No / Depends how it's used Devs need to hear the honest answer.

This might sound crazy. But one of the skills you NEED to learn is how to deal with a more and more illiterate society full of emotionally dysregulated people. If you keep getting frustrated every day over how "ďumb" everything/everyone seems, the stress of it is going to wreck your mind.

The game engine that studios will be forced into is radically different than what people have today. Using UE for example just guarantees your game will be stolen, the AI hooks are even being put in by Epic, it’s being designed for theft.
