Dear Friends,
The Breakthrough Bike Challenge was founded to raise funds supporting breakthroughs in cancer research at Penn Medicine's Abramson Cancer Center. Please consider making a tax deductible donation fueling the research that will deliver breakthroughs at my page here runsignup.com/Race/175770/Do…
Why will I ride? To honor the patients who have volunteered for our cancer immunotherapy clinical trials who have invested their faith and hope in our development of new medicines. To honor those living with cancer and those free from cancer. To honor the memories of my Uncle Arthur and my Aunt Glenda. To honor the memories of dear friends Richard and Laurie Carroll. To honor friend and coworker Andrea Brennan. Andrea carried with her words spoken by Stuart Scott at the ESPYs: "When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, why you live, and in the manner in which you live.
I know that I can make an impactful contribution to conquering this disease. Please support me and create hope for cancer patients by making a donation today.
Our team CARs Pedaling for Cures includes members and friends of the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies (CCI) where we are focused on the development of personalized cell and gene based therapies. The CCI team has brought to patients many first in human clinical trials. With the explosion of new results in cancer immunotherapy and chimeric antigen receptor T cells, what was once thought quixotic, is now viewed with excitement and enthusiasm.
We celebrate and thank patients who have enrolled in our immunotherapy trials. Without their dedication and placing their faith and hope in us, we would not be able to make progress in the development of new medicines.
In 2022, we celebrated the release of the documentary film Of Medicine and Miracles, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and tells an interwoven story of leukemia survivor Emily Whitehead and Dr. Carl June’s experiences in the development of CAR T cell immunotherapy therapy. The film has been released on several streaming services that I’ve pasted at bottom. Last year, a song honoring CAR T cell patients that I co-wrote was commercially released, with a music video you can find at RingThatBellSong.com
Thank you for your support, follow me on Twitter (X) @BLLPHD and I will keep you posted on my progress!

Circadian rhythms with potentially major impact on T cell circulation and exhaustion. Do we need to control for time of infusion in studies? Should we go back and look at results of prior studies by time of infusion? Congratulations to @zhang_yongchang and team!

A practice changing trial that IMMEDIATELY needs to be challenged. 2L TDXd only 10%, adj SOC was less than usual, and given PATINA 44mos, a stop-TDXd switch to CDK4/5 + H(P) needs to be explored for QOL. We should not minimize the 48% Fatigue, incld ~8% G3 #ASCO25 @OncoAlert

ABBV-400 a new antiMET ADC tested in pretreated EGFRm NSCLC reported ORR 26% and DoR 9.8 regardless cMET expression. It is a crowded space with BL-B01D1, DB-1310, dual TKI EGFR/ET etc. Can we ⬆️ ABBV-400 combining with osimertinib?TelisoV + Osi > Teliso alone in mEGFR 🫁#ASCO25

In a randomized trial (n=210), early time-of-day (ToD) ICI + chemo (before 3 PM) led to:
- mPFS: 11.3 vs 5.7 mo (HR 0.42)
- mOS: NR vs 16.4 mo (HR 0.45)
Very intriguing data-suggests a potential role for circadian biology in ICI efficacy?
