Africa's bioeconomy grows when communities share in the value, not just supply the raw materials. At the #AfricaBioeconomy2026 Workshop, @karirekinyana , Founder and Director of Karire Products Ltd, said buying raw materials is only the start: companies must also give back to the communities they source from, through products that meet their needs and shared knowledge. Communities and scientists working together can add value before products reach the market. #bioeconomy @icipe @SEI_Africa @AKADEMIYA2063 @easteco1

Africa's bioeconomy vision is promising, but delivering it will take a different way of working. At the #AfricaBioeconomy2026 Workshop, Dr Rose Omar of @csir_stepri , Ghana, called for an honest look at gaps in research, commercialisation & support for SMEs. Closing these gaps will turn ambition into results. #bioeconomy @sri_kenya @icipe @easteco1 @SEI_Africa @AKADEMIYA2063

At the 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽, @Profshaukat emphasised that a thriving #bioeconomy requires a whole-of-society approach. Researchers generate solutions, entrepreneurs scale them, financial institutions invest, industry creates markets, development partners strengthen capacity, and communities benefit from the value created from Kenya’s biological resources. The launch of the 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲–𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟲 marks the start of a new chapter focused on implementation and impact. Its success will depend on strong partnerships that turn research and innovation into products, enterprises, jobs and sustainable economic opportunities. @sri_kenya @nacosti #AfricaBioeconomy2026 @icipe @easteco1 @SEI_Africa @AKADEMIYA2063 @eacmediacentre @nacosti @nrfkenya @Bio_KE1 @mfbenda

Honoured to host and welcome H.E. Dr. @MusaliaMudavadi Prime Cabinet Secretary and CS for Foreign and Diaspora affairs @OfficePCS_KE as he unveils the Kenya National Bioeconomy strategy 2026-2036 in Nairobi. Another great milestone initiative coordinated by @sri_kenya @nacosti The PCS stated "Bioeconomy is not a single sector but a crosscutting economic transformation strategy that touches all sectors, from agriculture to manufacturing, energy, healthcare to urban services. it represents a strategic approach to decoupling growth from resource depletion, while enabling new forms of value creation and a new bio-based development approach. It is a whole-of-government economic and industrial strategy and the cornerstone that integrates well with our #BETA development model. It is estimated to provide a strategic response to the intersecting risks of trade exposure, economic volatility, high unemployment and climate change. That is the economic proposition at the heart of our economic development model". We are committed to provide leadership and assistance to other African countries towards developing thier #Bioeconomy strategy. The trajectory beyond @KenyaVision2030 under the leadership of President @WilliamsRuto is in the making. @SingoeiAKorir I express my gratitude to all partners for thier support in making it possible. @SEIclimate @FCDOGovUK @icipe @EUinKenya @BioInnovate @nrfkenya @PU_Kilifi @AASciences @ISC @TWASnews
