The American Ethiopian Public Affairs Committee (AEPAC) strongly supports Congressman Earl L. “Buddy” Carter’s (R-GA) resolution condemning the Ethiopian government for systematic human rights violations, including religious persecution, and calling for targeted sanctions on Ethiopian government officials responsible for these atrocities.
The resolution urges the U.S. Department of State to invoke all available diplomatic and legal tools—including the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act—to hold accountable those involved in war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide. It further condemns the Ethiopian government for “actions that threaten regional stability, violate fundamental human rights, and undermine the strategic interests of the United States in the Horn of Africa.”

Candlelight Vigil Held in Colorado for Victims of East Arsi Massacres

( Adebabay Media, Nov. 17/2025 Aurora, Colorado):- The Colorado area Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC) Diocese, together with local community leaders, organized a candlelight vigil on Monday in honor of Orthodox Christians killed in the ongoing violence in East Arsi Zone of the Oromia Regional State, Ethiopia.
Dozens of community members and clergy gathered in Aurora to pray, light candles, and call for urgent protection of civilians. Aurora city officials attended the event and delivered remarks expressing solidarity with the Ethiopian Orthodox community and calling for peace and accountability.
Similar vigils are expected to take place across other dioceses, countries and continents as global concern grows over the continuing attacks.
The next major gathering will be held in Berlin, Germany on November 26/2025, with participants traveling from cities across the country to take part in a united call for an end to the killings.
