Replying to @andyburnham
@andyburnham @JohnHealey_MP Just finished payroll. Every time I see employer NICs, I wonder how you can talk about growth while Reeves’s budgets crush businesses. Reverse the NIC hikes in this Budget for all ages¬ just for young ppl.Give us breathing space to employ and grow!

Angela Rayner can’t name a single pound of spending that Labour will cut - not one! 🤯
We are £3 trillion in debt, borrowing more just to pay the interest.
Get a grip.
Wasn't she sacked for *checks notes* NOT paying her tax?

Where's the investment?
I just see hundreds of billions going into welfare and debt interest.

£7.4 BILLION in unpaid council tax.
Families are struggling to make ends meet, yet council tax bills keep rising.
Labour's answer to everything? More tax.
You can't keep squeezing people who have nothing left to give.
Unpaid council tax bill arrears soar to record £7.4billion - as families struggling with cost of living are hit with hikes of up to nine per cent trib.al/dbtDN93

.@HMRCgovuk should go after MPs that suddenly become millionaires whilst serving in Parliament.
Very sensible
John Healey has pursued a simple strategy in preparation for next week's budget. Look at what Rachel Reeves did this time last year, and do the opposite > Mail on Sunday > dailymail.com/debate/article…

“Healey should remove anxiety and depression as a reason to claim benefits and offer people treatment instead. It would be better for the individuals and a fraction of the cost.”

👍 VAT @libdemdaisy
With the budget next week, the Chancellor needs to give British people the breathing space to tackle the cost of living.
People across the country are struggling with everyday expenses, and we need urgent action to slash energy bills, cut travel costs, and introduce a VAT cut to support hospitality and high streets.

Well I never...
Reeves’s stamp duty raid backfires as Treasury LOSES £500m in receipts. Also, HMRC WRITES OFF £13bn in tax as businesses collapse under Labour. Labour increased capital gains tax and the money coming into the Treasury FELL.
How incompetent are Labour, every measure they take to try and grab more of our money fails and they end up with less money. Financially illiterate. Policies which are punitive only ending up with the Treasury being worse off. Labour never learn. Get Labour out.

Labour don’t understand that you can’t just wish jobs into existence; you have to empower entrepreneurs to create them

And it's exactly why, hospitality needs a coordinated and robust response if it doesn't get one. But this is in no one's interest. It will undermine @andyburnham @JohnHealey_MP and the wider @UKLabour.
@Sacha_Lord & advisors need to be really clear with the consequences.

If hospitality doesn't get its much needed VAT cut next week, I fail to see when we would. @andyburnham is at his strongest. Finding the short term cash for a cut would require decisions elsewhere, and if he can't make them now - he never will. This really is last chance saloon.

The UK tax burden is at record levels. The cost of living crisis is a cost of government taxation crisis. The government is supposed to serve us, not fleece us.

🚨 The typical stamp duty bill is now over £4,500!
That's money families should be able to spend on their new home or save for the future.
We Conservatives will scrap it, get Britain building again and unlock the dream of home ownership for millions more.

The UK cost of living crisis is a cost of UK government taxation crisis.
The UK tax burden is climbing faster than any other major Western economy and is now at record levels. Frozen thresholds drag millions into higher rates. Higher NI, VAT, fuel duty, green levies, business rates…every pound extracted by the government is a pound that never reaches our food or energy bill.
Inflation hurts. Energy prices hurt. But the biggest squeeze is the government itself: record tax takes, endless spending pressures and stupid counterproductive policies that drive costs up then demand more tax to “fix” them.
We don’t mainly have a cost-of-living problem. We have a cost-of-government problem. The key question we should be asking is not how much tax is required, but instead, what the government is spending our tax money on.
Cut the tax burden. Let people keep more of what they earn. Watch the cost of living crisis immediately ease.
