Will we ship them our uranium like we are to India? When will Australians wake up to the con artists running our country into the ground?
Australia should be the wealthiest country in the world, but we are governed by totally incompetent and clueless fools. China has approved another 10 nuclear power stations at a total cost of US$27 billion (~A$38 billion). They will generate around 12,000 MW of electricity 24/7 for the Chinese economy. In contrast, Australia is spending $42 billion on Snowy 2.0. which generates zero electricity. In fact, it destroys energy, because the electricity used to pump the water uphill is around 40% more than the electricity it produces when the water is released to spin the turbines. Even then, on an intermittent basis, Snowy 2.0 can only deliver a maximum of 2,000 MW. If we keep this up, China is going to own us. The decisions being made today by totally incompetent fools like Bowen and Albanese — with their Net Zero obsession — will impoverish future generations of Australians.

On this week's Switzer, Regal Partners' Charlie Aitken says he's absolutely certain the RBA will raise rates to 4.6% this month, with the government spending like a drunken sailor and inflation still very much a problem. I can’t decide whether it’s worse if he actually believes everything is hunky dory, or if he’s knowingly fibbing.
BREAKING: New numbers show six out of every seven jobs created under Labor are in the private sector. More than 1.3M jobs have been created on our watch, most of them full time. This Albanese Labor Government has overseen the lowest average unemployment of any Australian government in the last half a century.

Garbage in, garbage out. Excellent research @chrisbrycki . Your seven flaws in Treasury’s CGT modelling are devastating: asymmetric treatment of gains and losses, undercounting young investors, cherry-picked country comparisons, and lock-in that freezes capital in yesterday’s assets. @AlboMP ‘s new CGT is a tax on aspiration built on assumptions that don’t survive contact with how Australians actually invest. #JoinWARonCGT #StoptheCGT
There’s an old saying in financial modelling: garbage in, garbage out. My take on Treasury’s tax reform assumptions, from today’s @australian.

RBC Capital on Deep Yellow $DYL: "We initiate coverage of Deep Yellow (A$2.05 PT, OP), a pure-play ASX-listed uranium developer with two fully-permitted assets in Tier-1 jurisdictions. "Tumas is an analogue to Paladin's producing Langer Heinrich mine, with an optimised plant design and FID targeted for Q4 CY2026. "Mulga Rock is the higher-grade, higher-value follow-on asset with a robust uranium-only backstop and base-metal/REO optionality. "DYL is valued at US$6.3/lb of M&I resource, well below the developer peer average of US$12/lb. We see compelling asymmetric upside as the financing overhang resolves and development risk is retired." #stockinfocus #XJO #equities #investing

Australia’s broad money supply continues to grow by 7.7% yearly. The RBA is guaranteeing the loss of the Australian Dollar’s purchasing power by 7.7% compounded. This is the true rate of inflation.

I have known Lang Hancock’s grandson, John Hancock @john05970496, for years—as a friend, and as an investor. He told me this story a long time ago. I have been thinking about it today. In 1960, a government geologist looked at the Pilbara and wrote, in effect, that Australia was running out of iron. There was some ore, he allowed, but not enough even for the country's small steel industry. Exporting it would be reckless. Canberra agreed. The ore was embargoed. Lang Hancock spent the 1950s and the first half of the 1960s asking for permission to sell overseas. The answer was no. The analysis, it turned out, was off by tens of billions of tonnes. The ban came off in the mid-1960s, after nearly two decades of lobbying. What Hancock did next never appears in the white papers. He found the money. He hustled for the customers. He assembled the geologists and the engineers, and the trucking men who followed the ore. Last year that ore was worth $126 billion. Add the wages, the ports, the rail, the contractors, the shops in towns that exist because the trains still run, and you are looking at something like 450,000 jobs and more than $30 billion a year in tax not to mention the retirement system reaps the investment returns today from iron ore. That is one of the reasons Australia is a rich country. A country that wants the next Hancock does not write tax rules that treat a wager as a moral failing. The latest CGT proposals do exactly that. They discourage the bet that creates the mine, the plant and the payroll. That is not the thinking that turned a bad embargo into a national fortune. Prosperity is not a natural resource. It is what happens when someone is allowed to find one. We have no trouble holding our sporting stars in high regard. We should do the same for our entrepreneurs.
