The Liberals National Security Strategy fails to explain how the government will keep actual terrorists and regime operatives out of the country.
At the same time, Iranians who were forced into mandatory IRGC conscription with no choice are being caught up in the screening system.
That’s dangerous incompetence.

Thank you, MP Redekopp (@BradRedekopp), for correctly highlighting this failure.
Treating Iranian men who were forcibly conscripted with no choice, no ideological commitment, and under threat of punishment, as if members is unfair and misses the point.
Hundreds of Iranian families now face inadmissibility. Meanwhile, credible concerns remain that senior IRGC figures and regime affiliates are still moving freely in Canada.
The UK and Australia have issued guidance distinguishing involuntary conscripts from voluntary members or supporters. Canada should do the same.
Using conscripts to pad anti-terrorism numbers while genuine risks go unaddressed is the opposite of effective national security.
This approach should be halted. #ConscriptsAreNotMembers

Imagine fleeing a country where you had no freedom to choose, only to have your future in Canada threatened by the very same lack of choice.
These are innocent families who believed in Canada’s values, worked hard to build their lives, and dreamed of a peaceful future.
