“When you are not prioritizing accessibility, you are excluding people, whether you realize it or not.”
I wish more folks understood disabilities can happen at any time in a person's life. They can be temporary, episodic, or permanent, while varying in severity. When you are not prioritizing accessibility, you are excluding people, whether you realize it or not.

Since Ronald Lauder, the sole heir to the Esteé Lauder Companies, stated last month, "I am still a Zionist today, I still love Israel, I will do everything I can to help it succeed," here is a list of all the brands owned by the genocide-enabling cosmetics company. 1/

Social media has done for women what decades of therapy never could: It showed women they weren’t the problem. In the past, women were isolated. So the violence they experienced could be written off as their fault, a personal problem, bad luck. But then social media allowed women to compare notes w each other globally. And it allowed men to confess their true thoughts and feelings about women. Once women see these patterns, they can’t be unseen. Social media showed women who the oppressors are in real time. It exposed the systems operating against them. May the birth rates never recover. 🫶

Here is the Covid debate in a nutshell.... On one side you have "Covid is dangerous" backed by 500,000 peer reviewed publications showing the damage Covid causes, coupled with the reality that more people are sick more often, for longer, more severely. On the other side you have, "Covid is mild", backed by, "the government said so", with zero proof, publications, or even real world evidence to show it to be true. There really is no debate, it's just facts vs fiction at this point, and the fiction is winning because its less work and more comfortable. Policy should match the reality.

I’ve learned that physically healthy, able-bodied people think they can “earn” their health. That if they eat right, exercise, and “don’t be lazy,” they’ll be able-bodied forever. This belief is the insidious underbelly of every piece of disability or healthcare legislation.
One of the most effective ways to keep people from questioning an unjust system is to convince them that their ability to survive it makes them morally superior to those who can't.

I am fundraising both because I have to and I think the work is important. Financially crushed, and can't even get an interview right now, so until I can find full time work I will keep fundraising, offering assistance and doing whatever I can to stay afloat while raising awareness and advocating for change. My vocal nature has put up hurdles to employment but I think if I keep pushing forward with positive goals, something is bound to give and the tide will turn. It’s been a rough few months, but we need awareness, and more voices not less. If you’d like to support my efforts and the work that I’m doing to help others, please do so, even a share goes a long way. gofund.me/185171594 PayPal: [email protected] DM for any Questions or Advocacy Assistance requests. @sakuraaahaeru @Trickywuh @ShawneeBear @phillip_______ @stagecat3 @90sdreamgirl @dtntherapy @lilkatniss7 @vampiretrial @DariaProklova @krattigernadja @themes2 @pammydee @jenniferyang17 @caznoz @mary_____w @chanda_waro @jessejeans1 @SaveusATeam @korowakunayami @rulfgardsdottir @thnmitr @GMarduke @illbedamed @acaotaku @thomas05112 @arnorrian @sdb999 @vinivinidogo @v1cd7n7zcbyxwxb @ig81888 @adriaquinones @jentleman_g @harryspoelstra @SmithCkilg @drstip @janecody13 @handinhand123 @dahliablue3 @leigh_fall @i_must_sing @SusanPMarch @twoshaws @priscianagsouza @flobbl

It's sad being the smartest person in the room when you're seeking help from someone who should know more than you. But this is what we get. Nurses who have zero understand of PPE or an ongoing pandemic. This is healthcare now. The stupidity is painful. The outcomes are tragic.
Yesterday I had a conversation with a nurse which had so many inaccuracies I didn't even argue as I was so gobsmacked. She started by saying, "oh, you're still wearing them?" (a respirator). She then continued, "we don't wear them since the Pandemic finished thankfully. It was 1/

Viagra is over the counter but women in menopause can only get testosterone prescribed if they say the magic words 'my sex drive is low', even if their T level IS low & it's causing bad fatigue, loss of muscle mass etc. But yeah men & women are now treated equally in society, sure

Hey, are @bcndp MLAs going to believe in science again, now that they're in opposition? Will they advocate for masks in high risk environments? Clean air in schools? Vaccines for everyone, instead of gatekeeping vaccines for only certain groups? Inquiring minds want to know!

So I guess we all have to move to Manitoba now … Umm … guess I’m goin’ to Winnipeg …
So many conservative governments across Canada and people cannot understand why healthcare and education is fucked.

Teens are telling their therapists they don’t believe there will be a world left for them when they grow up My family therapist told me therapists are talking about this with each other because none of them know what to say I can’t stop thinking about that

Because the kids are accurately assessing the state of the world they’re likely to inherit. I’m trying my best to insulate my kids from this realization but it’s likely only a matter of time.

If SARS-CoV-2 was really damaging people’s frontal lobes, you’d be noticing people being more brazenly rude, hostile, bigoted, antisocial, and tribalistic. Both online & irl. You’d notice people would be quicker to lose their temper, and unable to keep a lid on their emotions.

it's been instructive this decade that most of the people who shriek about disabled people seeking basic accommodations as some kind of hypersensitive crybabies actually cannot tolerate the slightest inconvenience themselves and it's just that they see their lives as more valid
i truly need people to learn how to tolerate a little discomfort. we’ll never change anything fundamentally or have any sort of “revolution” of any kind if many of you can’t even be inconvenienced, uncomfortable, or annoyed while vulnerable people are literally suffering

This guy provided fentanyl to a woman, raped her while she was unconscious and then sent her naked photo to other men instead of calling for help. She died. He should be charged with rape AND murder. He violated her multiple times and then left her for dead.

The shooter was killed within minutes of the first emergency call. 4 people were already dead. I need people to understand that a fast response and a preventable tragedy are not the same thing.

This is a really interesting idea and I will make a thread about it soon-ish. Trauma has an impact on creativity, and the ability to process creative arts.
Who else feels like they’ve lost interest in fiction or other creative/intellectual/immersive work post-Covid? I can’t tell if it’s just brain fog or the fact that most fiction doesn’t seem relevant anymore

So she was murdered? A college student was raped and murdered. That’s the word you omitted.
A college student died after she was drugged and raped in a New York City college dorm room, federal prosecutors announce. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/new…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Prosecutors allege the student died from complications of acute fentanyl intoxication after the defendant supplied the drug he knew was lethal, rendered her unconscious and raped her; he faces charges including distribution of a controlled substance resulting in death. dea.gov/press-releases… nbcnews.com/news/us-news/n…
