A neighbourly dispute took a shocking turn in Gujarat’s Morbi, where a woman lawyer’s parked car was doused with petrol and set ablaze and the accused reportedly filmed the burning vehicle on his phone. CCTV footage captured the incident, with police alleging that neighbour Shikhar Gohel set the car on fire after becoming irritated by the vehicle’s repeatedly sounding sensors. The lawyer, Pushpaben Bhatt, has filed a complaint, alleging damage worth around ₹3.5 lakh. Police have taken action against the accused as the footage circulates online.

On Tuesday, a video emerged from Jharkhand's Palamu district showing a dog running around hospital premises with an eight-month-old foetus in its mouth.
Further police investigation revealed that a 16-year-old girl had undergone an illegal abortion at Uttam Hospital and Nipun Ultrasound Center, after which the eight-month-old foetus was dumped on the hospital premises.
Police have registered an FIR against 11 people in connection with the case, invoking several legal provisions, including the POCSO Act, the PC-PNDT Act, and the Clinical Establishments Act.
This is what humans do to 16-year-old girls and eight-month-old foetuses in India!!

And here’s the most important part: THIS HAPPENED BECAUSE THE LAW CHANGED.
In January 2024, South Korea passed landmark legislation banning the breeding, slaughter and sale of dogs for meat.
Less than three years later, the results are extraordinary.
🐕 1,339 of 1,537 registered dog meat farms have closed. That’s 87%!
🐕 The number of dogs remaining on these farms has fallen from approximately 468,000 in August 2024 to just 7,600.
🐕 The nationwide ban takes full effect on February 7, 2027, with criminal penalties for violations.
This didn’t happen by accident.
Years of tireless animal advocacy helped drive legislative change. The government then introduced financial incentives, inspections and a legally mandated phaseout.
Of course, these figures don’t mean every dog was rescued. Serious concerns remain about the fate of many animals.
But the transformation is remarkable.
South Korea didn’t just ask people to stop participating in the dog meat trade. It changed the law. And an entire industry is being dismantled.
For years, this was an entrenched practice that many believed would be extremely difficult to end.
Today, its end is approaching.
This is a powerful reminder to animal advocates everywhere that even deeply established practices can change.
Laws matter. Enforcement matters. And I believe change IS possible.
