Environmental Health Practitioners inspected kitchens, building conditions and overall health and safety compliance at outlets visited tonight, while CRUM impounded a sound system found in breach of noise regulations.

Johannesburg is in mourning. In the space of one week, JMPD has lost one of its own and seen two more personnel attacked, Traffic Warden Reagan Joseph was shot and killed yesterday in Turffontein, with two children in the car with him, one of them shot too. Security Officer Kwanele Buthelezi was carjacked and murdered the weekend before. A third officer remains in hospital after being hijacked and shot.
These are our people, out there every day keeping Johannesburg safe, hunted for it even off duty. This is devastating and has to stop.
Our hearts are with the Joseph and Buthelezi families, and with every officer standing guard tonight knowing it could have been them.
If you know anything, come forward. JMPD and SAPS will not rest until those responsible are caught.

JMPD EXPRESSES DEEP CONCERN AND OUTRAGE OVER ALARMING SPATE OF ATTACKS ON OFFICERS AND PERSONNEL
@JoburgMPD
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) expresses profound sadness, severe outrage, and grave concern regarding a disturbing and violent trend targeting JMPD officers, traffic wardens, and security personnel across the City of Johannesburg.
Yesterday, Thursday, 1 October 2026, JMPD Traffic Warden Reagan Joseph was shot and fatally wounded while inside his private vehicle, a white Volkswagen Citi Golf.
Devastatingly, two children were present in the vehicle during the attack. One child sustained a gunshot wound to the head, while the status of the second child remains under close assessment.
Warden Joseph was tragically declared deceased at the scene. All relevant role players and emergency services responded, and a full investigation is currently underway.
This devastating incident marks the third violent attack on department personnel within a single week.
Crucially, all three officials were off duty at the time these targeted acts of violence occurred:
On Saturday, 26 September 2026, a 34-year-old JMPD Security Officer Kwanele Buthelezi was abducted during a carjacking in Lenasia South and subsequently found murdered in Finetown, Grasmere.
On Sunday, 27 September 2026, A JMPD officer was hijacked and shot in Finetown, Grasmere.
He remains hospitalised as medical teams attend to him.
The JMPD strongly condemns these senseless acts of violence against dedicated personnel who serve and protect the residents of Johannesburg. Attacks on law enforcement officers, traffic wardens, and security staff represent a direct assault on the rule of law and community safety.
The department extends its deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of Traffic Warden Reagan Joseph and Security Officer Kwanele Buthelezi.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with the hospitalised officer and the injured child for a full and speedy recovery.
We urgently appeal to anyone with information regarding these crimes to come forward.
The JMPD, working closely with the South African Police Service (SAPS), will spare no effort in ensuring that all perpetrators are apprehended and face the full might of the law.
