Tbh I can’t imagine using Xometry. We sub some CNC work and I gotta know my vendor. Reputation and reliability matter more than a score.
saw a shop owner on linkedin who lives on xometry payouts. low payouts didn't make him buy robots. they made him automate the paperwork first. model vs drawing checks, DFM, workholding, programming. a good reminder: while many pictures automation as a robot arm, in reality the money is in the work before the first cut.

Should I make the CNC machine my part benchmark?
I did say we'd be releasing our models periodically...introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, our next frontier model. Following Argon's release just two weeks ago, Carbon shows the pace at which we’re pushing the frontier, it ranks #1 on the recently updated v5.0 of @ArtificialAnlys Intelligence Index at 59. It also leads across key cybersecurity evaluations scoring 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching. We’re seeing significant improvements in long-horizon tasks even compared to Argon, and we’ve strengthened frontier safeguards. As we did with Argon, we’re going to roll it out gradually + responsibly. Some trusted cyber defenders will get access starting this week. We'll be expanding it to more partners through our Fairwind Program, ahead of wider availability soon, so hang tight!

Abdul El-Sayed: “We are being actively bullied by the dumbest people in the room. Donald Trump is an idiot. He has one genius which is getting attention. Because his dad never gave him enough, because he was a nepo baby, he craved attention and used the bullying tactics to get it. But the man is an idiot. Just a fool”

Everyone on here complains about everything. Am I the only one enraged by how low the sun is all the time in October?

I’ll be honest I’m jealous of this business.
SendCutSend went from a hobby to making 50 million metal parts per year. It just raised another $140 million to keep expanding. I spent a couple of days with its founder @jimbelosic at the Reno headquarters and factories and his childhood home. Big ole story on what I discovered right here - corememory.com/p/sendcutsend…

I spend a lot of time thinking about automating parts. I think that’s a waste of time. I just saw a chart and my biggest runner is <4% of my revenue. #jobshop

Poll: A industry exposure / recruiting website for CNC Machining. You take a test designed by an industry professional (me). You get a grade and a report. Get fwd'd to open job listings and BLS data on what you can make as a machinist. Goal: get technically talented but unaware kids into this trade.

Very promising from an incumbent player but the frontier models aren’t very good at G Code yet. They should buy my nc data. Than they’ll be good.
This seems to actually be what half the startups on here think they’re doing. A light wrapper in a few skills in Claude for machining. youtu.be/mOonbxEnScI?is=1TJs…

I have a hunch the Chinese AI models are better at CNC machining cause there’s more of it in their country. Anyone test this?

This is what we’ve been waiting for.
The “fix-it” bill advocates have been waiting for to repair the flawed e-bike law was introduced this week by @RajMukherji. But it’s too late for some. 36 bike shops have closed in NJ since the new e-bike law was passed, and more are expected to close. northjersey.com/story/news/t…

I love the idea of getting away from defense primes and loosening restrictions on purchasing. It’s a great tool. My one beef: a lot of these firms push execution risk down to the small level (me) without compensation. They get $$$ backed by the full faith and credit of the US and I’m stuck with NET60
