Took a few @robotaxi rides this week. Now watching a human cab driver babysit a car through city traffic makes me sad. It’s like seeing a farmer ploughing the field by hand when tractors exist.

Robotaxi waits went from 7 mins to 20+ minutes after the Houston, TX geofence expansion news went wide.
It seems more demand is readily available in Houston 📈
Word is out on the @robotaxi launch in Houston, TX today. Waits went from 7 min this morning to 20-30 min.
ARK’s Brett Winton on the podcast
1. Over the weekend, SpaceX executives followed Tesla’s X account. That looks like a sign that something is happening internally.
2. SpaceX is cash-flow constrained. It could raise more money in the stock market, but the investment opportunities in front of SpaceX offer some of the highest expected returns on invested capital(ROIC) of any company I’ve ever looked at.
3. Tesla, on the other hand, is about to enter the phase where its robotaxi network starts generating huge amounts of cash. And I don’t think Optimus is cash-constrained. The issue is execution. There are still challenges to solve on both the mechanical and software sides.
4. So if SpaceX could use Tesla’s free cash flow to launch AI satellites, the results could be enormous. Every business of a future-oriented company would come together under one roof: SpaceX, superintelligence, and Tesla.
In short, SpaceX has huge long-term opportunities, but it needs Tesla’s cash flow to get there.
The ones who really need this merger right now aren’t Tesla. They’re SpaceX and Elon.
If they really want to do it, they need to bring an exchange ratio generous enough to pass the shareholder vote on the first try.
Some influencers keep pushing the merger as if it’s the only option, without even mentioning a premium.
All that does is hype up retail investors and weaken Tesla shareholders’ negotiating leverage. That’s irresponsible, and it deserves to be called out.

This person keeps misleading people by claiming Korean investors oppose or challenge a Tesla-SpaceX merger because of capital gains tax.
Most Korean investors who oppose a merger right now agree on the following:
1. They agree that a merger should happen someday.
2. The issue is timing: why now, right as Tesla is about to harvest the robotaxi payoff?
3. Both committees are already open, and SpaceX — the side driving this — has not even put terms on the table. Why prop Tesla up first and rush into that?
4. The two companies could scale commercial ties first, then pursue a merger. That path also has ways to reduce Elon's risk if the deal fails (e.g. major-country approvals do not clear).
5. Every question already assumes they support a merger. Where people actually diverge is when, and at what premium or exchange ratio. Yet a letter goes out asking to push a merger without asking those questions at all.
Is it fair to paint Korean investors who raise these points as if they are obsessed with one capital gains tax issue?

Wonder if SpaceX has 10GW, 20GW, etc. more compute in the next 1,2 years who is going to rent it? Does Grok have that much demand?

$TSLA
The answer is clear.
1. From Elon’s point of view, of course he wants this merger. It would give him far more voting control over Tesla.
2. From SpaceX’s side, it makes sense too. SpaceX needs a cash cow to fund its massive space investments. Its data center rental business runs on spot pricing, so its profits are volatile and low quality. Tesla’s upcoming robotaxi cash flow is exactly the stable income SpaceX lacks.
3. But for Tesla shareholders other than Elon, why merge now, at today’s valuations? Maybe later, but not now. Tesla has $45B in cash and is just about to start making real money from robotaxis.
That’s exactly why the deal has to come with a premium Tesla shareholders can’t refuse.
Some people say they support the Tesla-SpaceX merger because SpaceX will grow faster than Tesla, even in the short term.
If you really believe that, why not just sell all your Tesla shares and buy SpaceX, instead of hyping up a merger?
And if SpaceX is the better growth story, why would you want to merge it with a "slower-growing Tesla"?
That’s a bit contradictory, isn’t it?
My guess is the proposal put to a vote will value Tesla at around $2T, and at most $2.5T.
I agree the two companies should merge in the long run. But I believe Tesla’s growth will be more explosive than SpaceX’s at least until 2030, so I’m against merging right now. A premium at that level isn’t enough for me.
If a proposal valued Tesla at $3T or more, I’d run the numbers then, but I think that’s very unlikely.
Most people expect a merger. What I find inappropriate is some influencers saying a merger at today’s valuations is fair, without even mentioning a premium.

Watch who you listen to on X, including me.
A lot of people sold $TSLA to swap into $SPCX. They will keep justifying that move - they’re talking their book. Why else wouldn't they?
I kept my TSLA. I've been justifying that move with what I think is rational thought, and I've even recommended a hedge for the no-deal case. I'm talking my book too.
Disingenuousness lives on both sides. Conviction posts. "Just merge" letters. "I already rotated and I'm sleeping fine." Same game. Different jersey.
Before you commit to anyone's idea, ask what they already own and what they need to be true. Perspective and incentives beat vibes every time.
If their timeline only works if their bag wins, you're not getting advice. You're getting a pitch.
Don't outsource your brain. Not to them. Not to me.
