And now Serbia, which has followed Hungary's election shift from a few weeks ago. The test in all cases is what these new governments do next-- what promises can they keep or will "politics as usual" actually change (rather than just the people running things)? We shall see.

What are the odds that Lula's win in the Brazil presidential run-off election today is a portent of things to come in Israel, the US and NZ over the next 10 days? Has the global Right political wave crested? Or is that wishful thinking and its support is more solidly grounded?

This sums it up pretty clearly. Not valuing people’s right to vote unless they vote for “my side”. Don’t talk about the importance of democracy.
The left's support base is thick and lazy. They know that because they're shitting themselves that enrollment has closed. Hundreds of thousands of potential far-left voters are now cut off. Shame.

Pro tip: Don’t declare something to be 100% certaint unless it’s actually certain.
🇧🇷 As this election campaign finally comes to an end, we can say with statistical certainty that Flávio Bolsonaro (PL) will be elected the next president of the Federative Republic of Brazil tomorrow night. Bolsonaro now officially has a 100% chance of victory, compared to Lula's 0%. (globalelectionsimulator.com) will update its final projections within the coming hours. At this point, the only uncertainty our team has is the exact margin, not the outcome. The absolute range for Flávio Bolsonaro is 50.5% to 56.2%, while Lula's is 43.8% to 49.5%. Our final projection update will go live in a moment on the website and here shortly after. A banner will note that the projection has updated, so you will know it is official. 🌐 Global Election Simulator Research Institute 🔗 globalelectionsimulator.com

BREAKING: Lula da Silva has won the presidential elections in Brazil 🇧🇷
It looks like Lula is heading for a victory in Brazil 🇧🇷 tonight. The way things stand he has won the state of Minas Gerais, and ever since 1950 Minas Gerais has always voted for the eventual president.

This is hilarious because Verian don’t even complete their report until Tuesday morning before each poll, so the data isn’t even compiled yet. But good try for some views I guess
Someone just leaked TVNZ's poll for this coming Tuesday to me and all I'll say is that things are about to get wild

If Kerrin Leoni wins Tamaki Makaurau she will be elected as a Labour MP, not an Independent. Labour will get one fewer List MP as a result.

I'm about to scoop this leak (that doesn't sound right): 🚨SUPER SECRET POLL: NAT 15% (-15.5) LAB 15% (-13) ACT 15% (+3) GRN 15% (-1) NZF 15% (+7) TOP 15% (+8) TPM 15% (+14) Commentators are already calling it a "game changer", but mathematicians are labelling "impossible".

nightmare outcomes this election for democratic legitimacy: -right gets in only thanks to Nat overhang -left gets in only due to TPM overhang -right gets in only due to lower enrolment of young people play undemocratic games for short-term gain, wreck the system long-term. xitter.cf/_breadcapital/status/2…

He fails to mention that for 40 years, New Zealanders have been able to enrol right up until midnight before election day. The last two elections we could even enrol on election day. It’s a massive backwards step that many people won’t know about until they try vote.
Luxon on the campaign trail today, last day to enrol in NZ election: "Kiws are twice as smart as Australians so I'm sure we can manage, I'm sure we can get enrolled 13 days before an election." (Australians voting in federal elections have to enrol at least 26 days before)

I think this video is one of the defining artifacts of the 2020s. Maybe 21st century politics in general.

Either he doesn’t know or is lying. Very frustrating to hear this. As this is what Auckland’s feedback focused on as well.
this young interviewer completely embarrasses christopher luxon, who tries to say the kid doesn't know the details of the move-on bill, only for the kid to come back and grill him on the details, while luxon just stammers and deflects. clip via voteotago on instagram

#BHN let’s not be revisionists now Whanau. When Luxon was asked if National would engage with gangs he said “No, no, no, no, no, absolutely no,” Luxon said zero engagement so let’s not try to say now the criticism was only about alleged campaigning…it wasn’t. He then said of Labour “that they actually think that even their candidates think it's okay to hang out with gang members and pal around with them” Just spending time with gangs was last weeks evil according to Luxon, don’t shift the goal posts now, just be honest and consistent. If last weeks politician shouldn’t even “hang out” or “pal around with” gang members, then all we’re saying is the same should apply today.
