- The US Department of Agriculture correctly says on its website that "almost all" US agricultural exports to Canada face no tariffs at all - The super-high Canadian dairy tariffs Trump often talks about are *over-quota* tariffs...tariffs that apply only after certain negotiated quantities of zero-tariff exports are met...and those quotas are rarely hit, often not even approached - Most Canadian exports go to the US, but it's not close to "95%"; it was about 72% of goods exports in 2025, down from 76% in 2024 - The US goods-trade deficit with Canada has sometimes been $60 billion but often been much smaller, and it overwhelmingly exists for one reason: the US imports a lot of cheap Canadian oil

I’ve been informed by opposition members of the Government Operations committee that they are calling for an urgent investigation into the details of the Gordie Howe Bridge deal and the misinformation provided to Canadians about it. As their Chair, I will convene a meeting on Wednesday, July 29 to allow the committee to get to the bottom of the matter.
