Is this a hot take? I guess now that I think of it, this probably isn't Common Knowledge as I had sort of assumed, but it's definitely Just True.

At least two of these, surely. Plus Takato from Digimon Tamers.

I remember reading about a local theater where before a film, the operators gave a little speech about their policy never to laugh at a movie's expense, that the audience must detach themselves from irony and engage with what the film is actually doing. Allegedly, this worked.

I thought this was common knowledge. Shouldn't they teach that in schools? I think I learned it in schools.
Besides, it's not like people who own cars can never take the bus.

Is this better? It doesn't seem like a huge improvement, right?

If I managed to turn the most unfuckable animated loser into the thirst trap of the year by drawing over one of the most clowned on animated series ever I think you'd never get me down from the high of that ego boost
kudos to the animator, holy fuck you've done the impossible

I don't get what there even is to object to in your description? You weren't joking. Nothing you said was a joke. You chose the words you used because they accurately describe the situation, so it's fine, isn't it?

You know that xkcd strip like "sometimes I see someone online refuting some terrible take I've never even heard of?" I feel like that about this tweet
Like, Yes, obviously the horror of transphobia are caused by transphobes, & Not trans folks themselves. SAD it even needs saying.

It did. Absolutely developed a ML/AI program to discern frame to frame movement of animated characters and how the lighting/shading should follow along. "KLaS".
Developed in 2015. A full 7 years before Midjourney V1 dropped. 6 years before DALL-E dropped.
That software generated bezier curves to control the lighting/shading. Then the curves were reviewed and massaged frame by frame by artists.
It's important to distinguish the difference between that form of ML/AI and the exploitative abusive and harmful general AI generative software we're pushing back on right now. Machine Learning has been useful for decades. Nuance is key.

I personally like the "Ryou Bakura" and "the Thief" dichotomy, much like the "Yugi Mutou" and "the Pharaoh" dichotomy.
