That's right folks. This is the official response to a simple and pointed request. Given the scope of what amounts to an official ban this has the hallmarks of an official collective decision. Between now and October I will plan further. That work is, in fact, already underway. The key question: Why this reaction to my arguing that there should be a publicly viewable component of the GovAI Use Case Library? Sure there will be use cases where a security classification is warranted. Locking down everything is highly questionable given there fact that Government AI will impact everyone. Why is that such an issue: Two words Open Government. And that's before I get to the many other issues this raises. That's all I will be saying for now. But I'll be watching. That's all I will be saying for now. The record speaks for itself."

Good morning @jommy_tee Good news from me concerning my work on AI, moral disengagement and moral engagement. Not withstanding the many issues with AI, the media needs to lift its game. Why? Many of the issues are down to the institutionalised behaviours and practices within organisations and the mindset of some individuals within them. Submissions Webpage aph.gov.au/Parliamentary_Bus… My submission number is 570. There are three documents: Mr Steve Davies aph.gov.au/DocumentStore.ash… 570.1 Supplementary to submission 570 aph.gov.au/DocumentStore.ash… 570.2 Supplementary to submission 570 aph.gov.au/DocumentStore.ash… The first document is the submission proper. The second document concerns more technical matters via a vis testing. The third provides a window to the submission proper. All three documents are deeply intertwined.

Oops @wilding_gyres My early morning pre-coffee slip up. To the critics of the work of Nina.
To the critics of @wilding_gyres I say this. Such work as this has a solid potential to build bridges of understanding. Her openness, transparency and honesty is what is needed. Why? It cuts through the destructive binary thinking that has become all too prevalent.

These words, thoughts and feelings of Cate Blanchett resonate deeply and profoundly with me.

The narratives we should be focusing on when it comes to AI are the ones that hold the tech industry accountable. @NYCMayor Mamdani and comedian @ilazer dug into reasserting this kind of public control over our lives at The People’s AI Assembly, co-hosted with @MorePerfectUS.

Writer @NaomiAKlein says the rapid rise of artificial intelligence is part of a much longer project of privatization. "After 50 years of outsourcing and hollowing out of public functions of the state, the very last stage is the outsourcing of thinking, of intelligence itself."

Vladimir Poutine n'a trahi personne.

Well, well. At last. A politician finally takes a real lead on AI. I am pleased and not surprised it is South Australia. They have a strong history on innovation. I remember the Don Dunstan years very well. Stands in marked contrast to the dangerous pompous insularity of the Albanese Government, the Liberal Party opposition and, indeed, the Australian Public Service. @AlboMP @SenKatyG The terms of reference are streets ahead. A solid foundation.

Putin argues that while machines may surpass humans in analytical ability, people retain an advantage machines cannot easily replicate: the ability to think outside the box. He recalls the 1983 incident when the world came close to a U.S.-Soviet nuclear war. Soviet Lt. Col. Stanislav Petrov received an early-warning alert reporting five incoming American ICBMs. He recognized the alarm as a computer malfunction rather than a genuine attack. “If instead of Colonel Petrov, there had been an artificial intelligence, everything could have turned out completely differently.”
While the technical progress can’t be stopped, Putin calls for the responsible use of AI: “There are already cases when artificial intelligence makes decisions on its own based on its own understanding of what is appropriate. This applies to both civilian and military use. As the technology of artificial intelligence is further implemented, its role will increase, and algorithms will take on a greater responsibility, especially since a person cannot compete with the ability of a machine.”
