"If I refuse marriage, our society would have made my life miserable. It seems to me that my parents brought me into this world only to get me married... In other countries no one cares about one’s marital status,
The decision to marry or not is left up to the individual.. Parents must accept this; just because you’ve birthed your child, he is not your slave"
- wrote Sadeep, a 27 year old young man who repeatedly quarelled, adamant to refuse an arranged marriage.

It is insane—and politically inept—to think one Muslim American senator means we are going to have mandatory hejab in America, like they have in Iran under the Islamic Republic.
When you make asinine, fear mongering claims like this, you do a disservice to (and minimize) what women and girls face under regimes like the Islamic Republic in Iran and the Taliban in Afghanistan, who actually brutalize and repress women using Sharia.
You are walking around with complete freedom of dress, Penelope. You’re not oppressed. Make yourself useful and advocate for women and girls who are actually brutalized by regimes that codified mandatory hejab into law.

Another disgusting post from a disgusting person—someone who denied that the criminal Assad regime murdered Syrians with chemical weapons and now mocks the number of Iranian protesters killed by the criminal regime he supports.

Dispatch from Bahrain, where the government is cracking down on clerics it accuses of fostering allegiance to Iran and fomenting rebellion.
I sat for a rare interview with Lt. Gen Tariq Al Hassan, head of public security, who said Bahrain aimed to uproot purveyors of Iran's Wilayet al-Faqih strand of Shi'ite Islam which had indoctrinated youths.
"Unfortunately, the war exposed the extent to which some individuals had been hijacked and indoctrinated by Iran-linked ideology," said Al Hassan. "Wilayet al-Faqih has fostered allegiance to a foreign state within parts of our society, and that is unacceptable."
Critics and rights groups say the move is a new blow to free speech and religious freedom in a country that crushed 2011 Arab Spring pro-democracy protests.
More than 50 clerics are on trial and the verdict is expected on Sunday, Nov. 8.
The crackdown followed some expressions of public support for strikes in Bahrain, particularly those targeting U.S. bases.
It is a sign of how the Iran war has destabilised regional states allied with the US that did not support the war but have borne the brunt of Iran's attacks.
In Bahrain's case, it has reversed a trend of internal and regional detente.
The government had freed hundreds of prisoners in jail for political activity via royal pardons in 2024, rights groups said. The same year, Bahrain and Iran began talks to restore diplomatic relations, severed since 2016.
Then, the war began.

The conviction that Iran will not capitulate even if the US destroys it's critical infrastructure and economy has now become a cornerstone of a geopolitical and military analyses among most pundits and observers. What is fact for them is a bitter realisation and resignation by ordinary Iranians who are helplessly awaiting potential catastrophe.

This mockery of the number of Iranians slaughtered by the IRGC regime within days at the beginning of this year alone is the equivalent of when doubt was cast on Gaza numbers by claiming “according to numbers by the Hamas-run Gaza ministry of health…”

Iran has been in a state of war against the region, in varying degrees, since 1979. And it’s probably safe to say that moving forward, Iran will be in a more determined perpetual state of war against the region, covertly and overtly.
Iran Is Preparing for Another War — and This Time, the Entire Region Could Pay the Price
Speaking to @ynetnews , I warned that Tehran is not intimidated by the prospect of another confrontation with the United States and Israel.
If attacked, Iran is likely to seek to expand the war from the outset, targeting Gulf states it views as a vulnerable pressure point against Washington.
Tehran is also improving its missile capabilities and preparing its regional partners including Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iraqi Shiite militias, for possible involvement.
More troubling, Iran has threatened to strike first if it detects preparations for an American or Israeli attack.
The Iranian leadership believes it can withstand another military campaign, impose significant costs on the United States and its allies, and ultimately force Washington to accept the regime's survival.
The central danger is that Washington may envision another short military operation, while Tehran is preparing for a much broader and potentially prolonged regional war.

The Iran-backed Houthis’ reaction to Turkey ratifying the Mecca Pact yesterday has been to weaponize Ankara’s internal politics by broadcasting/publishing Turkish opposition speeches and questioning why Turkey "guards Saudi oil" while Gaza burns. The irony is that the Houthis themselves abandoned Gaza to focus on attacking Riyadh and strengthening Tehran's leverage in the Red Sea.

1. By those standards, Assadist Syria, Cuba, and North Korea are/ were very accomplished countries, but very few would see these crumbling places as a success stories or want to live there.
The trajectory Iran is and has been on for years (if not decades) is not to a glorious destiny--it's slow decay and toward eventual state failure and collapse, as we've seen in those other places--unless there is a dramatic reversal of direction.
Your view of power and sovereignty is an outdated one that fixates on one or two dimensions to exclusion of every other dimension.
Real accomplishments would have been to build military power and economic resilience, while also prospering, avoiding protracted and highly damaging conflicts, maintaining robust diplomatic relationships that give you optionality, and creating optimal conditions for your people to prosper. Many comparable or smaller countries--some with far fewer human and natural endowments--seem to be able to do it!
2. Additionally, this conflict has been imposed on Iran's people by the Islamic Republic, which is not a democracy, and Iranians have taken every avenue at their disposal to change these policies--futile elections (1997, 2001, 2009, 2013, 2017, and 2024); popular uprising for radical reforms (2009); and popular uprisings for revolution (2017/18, 2019, 2022, and 2026).
You get to vicariously live out an anti-imperialist fantasy that presents this Iranian suffering as as ennobling, but the price of this regime for working class families like mine has been unemployment, failure to form families, hunger, and broken futures--all in pursuit of policies that were either not essential Iranian interests, or could have been reached through far less costly means.

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms has released its periodic report, stating that its field team documented (66) crimes and violations committed by the terrorist Houthi militia against civilians and civilian objects in Taiz Governorate over the past (73) hours. The team also recorded the firing of approximately (356) projectiles at residential neighborhoods and populated areas, amid an escalation accompanied by the continued siege and tighter restrictions on civilian movement and access to essential supplies.

War in #Yemen #SITREP | 04 November 2026 | Yemen National Army forces from the Sixth Military Region Command @Yem_army_media, alongside the First Division of the Yemen Emergency Forces @MCAzal102S, tribal resistance fighters, and elements of the National Shield Forces @diralwatan, have reportedly begun capturing sections of the Duhaydah al-Aqir and Duhaydah al-Ma mountainous areas, approximately 45 kilometers east of Al-Hazm, the provincial capital of Al-Jawf.
These advances are part of a week-long military campaign in Al-Jawf, where government-aligned forces have made grinding territorial gains against the Houthis.
Videos circulating from the front appear to show government fighters seizing Houthi positions and capturing weapons, ammunition, and other military equipment left behind by retreating Houthi forces.

As a Shia Muslim, I have more religious freedom in the US than in Saudi Arabia.
As an Ahmadiyya Muslim, I have more religious freedom in the UK than in Pakistan.
As a Sunni Muslim, I have more religious freedom in France than in Iran.
Think about that.
The West has its problems, but it has shown Muslims more tolerance than some of our own so-called Islamic nations.
We demand tolerance from the West, yet we persecute Muslims who don't share our sects or beliefs.
We want freedom for ourselves but struggle to give it to one another.
Perhaps we Muslims need to look in the mirror before lecturing the West about religious tolerance.

Sentenced to death for posting on @X in Iran. His name is Amirhossein Mousavi.
Dear @elonmusk, this should outrage you.
Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Iran’s former dictator and the regime’s current Supreme Leader, uses your platform to broadcast his messages to the world. So do other officials of the Islamic Republic.
They enjoy freedom of expression on X while sentencing ordinary Iranians to death for exercising that same freedom.
Amirhossein is now facing the gallows because of his online activism.
The executioners have a voice on X. Their victims face execution for having one.
Elon, will you speak up for Amirhossein?
No one should be hanged for a tweet.

I told @PakTVGlobal that many Yemeni Americans who once staunchly supported Trump in the swing state of Michigan voted against his party after his “shithouse” remarks about immigrants from Yemen. For many, this was the final straw.
A Yemeni-American voter in Michigan who had been a staunch supporter of President @POTUS Trump @realDonaldTrump told @BashaReport that watching the video of Trump referring to immigrants from Yemen as coming from a “shithouse” was what pushed him to vote Democratic.
