The butthurt handling of this primary defeat by Haley Stevens and now her fiance after they had tens of millions in outside money spent on her behalf is appalling. The next SecDef or a Trump SCOTUS judge is on the line here! Totally pathetic & reveals that the loss was deserved

set an alarm to snag a reservation at a brooklyn restaurant for 2 weeks from now as soon as they dropped at 11am and they were instantly gone. Has to be all AI agents, I refuse to believe there are that many sickos sitting at their computers refreshing open table for this place.

I am at a bat mitzvah in the DC suburbs and I am sorry to report that the epidemic of men wearing sneakers with suits is even worse out here than it is in NYC.
This week’s newsletter: I wrote about the GOPs strategy of Islamophobia has been aided by Democrats and the press. And I find the lack of pushback not only immoral but shortsighted.
We either all have a place in democracy or we don’t. And the forces seeking to marginalize their place in the American project will likely expand to others

V funny how over the past week or two seemingly every ultra centrist poster in New York City has been taken in by this long shot Republican AG candidate. Given she lacks the name rec that Cuomo had, this will be an interesting test of how big this cocktail party constituency is.
I am a Democrat and a NY voter. I really like what I am hearing from Saritha Komatireddy. @sarithaforny
One step closer to these long planned Big Beautiful Boys of Two Bridges finally getting built. Rents down there have gotten as high as nicer neighborhoods to the north, new homes are desperately needed.
Big news in Two Bridges: Gary Barnett's Extell is in contract to sell its site at 259 Clinton to Yossi Hoffman's Bushburg Cos., The Promote understands.
All-in deal (with req. investment for mitigation etc.) is said to be ≈$100M
Messy site, part of the Two Bridges master plan. Qualifies for Affordable New York tax break. But joined at the hip to 2 other projects on Cherry St. (more on that soon) Broker is Meridian's Helen Hwang.
Bushburg is making tons of moves! Big in the office-resi space as well, with 2 large projects in the works downtown.
More in The Promote Monday.
Feeling v very old after hearing a piano instrumental version of teenage dirtbag in an office building lobby just now.

Montefiore is seeking a rezoning. If folks are going to ask for community benefits, they should ask for Norwood News funding instead of something lame like more parking. Norwood News was the only outlet to report that I was assaulted by a 2-time Assembly candidate in 2020.
Montefiore cited “resources” as the reason it put the Norwood News on “indefinite hiatus.” But the local paper cost ~ $200K annually, less than most salaries at the affiliated nonprofit that ran it and millions less than they spent at McKinsey thecityreporter.nyc/2026/10/…

Conflating Jews with Israel is antisemitism but also it’s antisemitism to NOT conflate Jews with Israel
Nonnegotiable Michigan, a coalition of Michigan rabbis and Jewish Dems, responds to El-Sayed's pledge:
"You cannot fight antisemitism without naming and condemning the kind of anti-Jewish bigotry rooted in the Jewish people’s inextricable connection to the land, people and State of Israel." nonnegotiable.org/media

I am v glad that, amidst NYC's YIMBYs + private rent stabilized tenants taking power, NYCHA has become the venue for NYC's biggest housing fight. For too long NYCHA has been treated as a separate thing but it's really a microcosm of all the housing things. nypost.com/2026/10/05/us-new…

The project at 100 Gold is expected to bring about 8,080 residents to the neighborhood, increasing the Financial District’s population by about 10%. That could just be the beginning of a population boom.

Grow up in a boom, then demand others live in artificial scarcity, pay more of the shared burden until you’ve extracted all you possibly can.
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?”
Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century.

Somehow, in certain quarters, it has come to be seen as a personal failing to devote one’s life to improving the world around you. It isn’t “downwardly mobile” to choose, after college, to be a teacher, a city councilor or an artist. It’s just a different kind of ambition.
Great article about the DSA newyorker.com/magazine/2026/…
