As an American, who is also an actual fan of football (โฝ๏ธ): will you people please, for the love of god, shut the fuck up?
I promise, those of us (from any nation) who actually watch the sport, do not give a fuck what relative tourists think of the gameโs rules. And those of us who are fans from the US, donโt want guilt by association from those tourists thinking they know better than those who watch every goddamn week.
If offsides is too weird or complex for you, thatโs fine. Cheer for the red white and blue; celebrate the event; have funโ but please, shut the fuck up about the rules.
Soccer fans defending offsides by arguing other sports have lines and rules against slightly going over them. Yes, but crucially: THEYโRE PAINTED ON THE FIELD. Theyโre not invisible lines constantly moving throughout the flow of the game for reasons beyond the offenseโs control.
