This is an amazing photo! Do you know if it's staged or actually taken during a game? How high off the ground is Duke??

Jim, I love what you post, but several errors on this one. No way the song was written in 1973; Catfish didn’t sign with NY until 12/31/74. And he was not the first pitcher to win 200 games since 1915. Warren Spahn, Lefty Grove, Robin Roberts, Jim Bunning, Bob Gibson, etc.

Except that in 1963 the college all-star team beat the World Champion Green Bay Packers 20-17.

So you're current law enforcement. Thank you for serving.

Mid-40's. Go to your local dollar store and buy half a dozen reading glasses. Keep a pair in each car, your desk at work, a couple around the house. That way you've always got a pair close by. And if you're serving in a calling that means you have a desk @ the church, same thing.

A great year, but the greatest? No. You make that argument yourself that it's not- Denny McLain, Yaz, and you didn't even mention Don Drysdale's 58 inning consecutive scoreless streak. It was the year of the pitcher.

I was just on 4 different islands in Hawaii last week. Gas is cheaper there than it is in the SF Bay Area.

Bruce, those four players, with Elgin and Barry in particular, maybe four of the most underrated great players in NBA history.

The lack of hardware proves that in any given season they were not the best pitcher in their league.

At least the little bit of playoffs the Braves are in. ;)

Sadly, cancellations are not extremely rare. IMO, not enough people understand the promised blessings that come with a sealing, AND no one is giving up their agency on the other side of the veil. No one will be forced to be with someone they don't want to be with.

I will assume you live in Utah, or Utah-adjacent where stake baptisms are still big. Out here in our neck of the mission field, families pretty much do their own thing. Not enough kids to have big stake baptisms. It would be a wonderful "problem" to have.

Back-to-back CYA's and then retired. He led the league in WHIP 4 of last 5 seasons. If he could have stayed healthy, think of his 1968 season at age 32; McLain won 31 games; Gibson had an ERA of 1.12; Drysdale had 58 scoreless inning streak. What would Koufax have done that year?
