5 things to check around your house before fall 🍂🏠
Downspouts + gutters
Roof + shingles
Furnace + filter
Carbon monoxide + smoke detectors
Sump pump
A few quick checks now can help prevent bigger problems once colder weather hits.
This is really bad news for Northeast Ohio. Morton Salt is the main supplier of road salt in the region, and this mine is shut down indefinitely due to water intrusion in the mine. The mine is roughly 2000 ft below Lake Erie.
Morton is an iconic company known for table salt, but most of their business is de-icing and chemical manufacturing.
Not to mention, a portion of their business is also supplying salt pellets for residential and commercial hard water filtration. These pellets soften the water at water treatment plants before being distributed to customers.
An all around bad scenery, especially right before winter.
Federal mine inspectors returned to the Morton Salt mine on Tuesday, Oct. 27, as investigators worked to determine what caused a major water intrusion and whether the mine can safely reopen. Read more here: fox8.com/news/morton-salt-mi…
Back in the gym, been out of a routine for too long
Time to get in the groove and finish the year strong

FIRST LOOK AT THE NEWEST RANKED DIVISION. 👀
And this field is already loaded.
4-season vet @TimproviseDIY jumps out to the early lead at +6.10%.
Rookie @JC_JustCharts is right behind him in 2nd at +3.88%.
And Mr. 500, @LiamMAHarvey , sits 3rd at +3.87%.
Behind them? A pile of familiar names and experienced FSL players waiting to make a move.
This is what a ranked division looks like when the vets keep coming back and the rookies show up swinging.
If you’ve been watching FSL from the sidelines, this is your sign.
Draft a team. Get in the league. See where you stack up.
This isn’t that high of a price when you consider what it costs to run a business.
Also, if this price is too much, get more quotes. Rule of thumb is to get at least 3 quotes for a project.
If you think this is expensive, you should hear how much fencing contractors charge
Just got quoted $2,400 to paint a 23 by 13 foot living room.
The 4 gallons of paint it takes to do the job costs about $110 at Home Depot, or around $160 if you want Sherwin Williams.
This is not a particularly skilled job.
You went to trade school, not medical school.
You own a brush and a roller.
Stop ripping people off, contractors.
I’ll be starting a new video series: Building a Nursery
I’ll break the project down into multiple videos covering the closet, painting, trim, building furniture and more.
A lot of it will apply to other rooms too.
Excited to share this project!
Eventually this will likely become one of the most populated regions on Earth
This map should include Indianapolis, Columbus and Pittsburgh too

YouTube is the greatest tool for homeowners ever. I’ve done countless projects thanks to them.
Shoutout to our very own @TimproviseDIY FSLer who has his own channel!
Hope I can get selected for this! I’ve already got 15+ videos set and ready to go.
Cant imagine there’s too many other accounts on here that promote DIY projects and home maintenance videos?
It’d be fun to help show this sector from an engineers perspective
We’re doubling down on video on 𝕏.

As a civil engineer, we routinely use robots like this to investigate sewers and confined spaces. They’re almost always used in tandem with a power washing device to simultaneously clean the sewer while it’s being inspected.
Is there a similar market for crawlspaces?
A startup this weekend pitched me a crawlspace bot for HVAC technicians.
What do you think?
According to them it’s safer, since techs run into snakes, black widows, raw sewage from broken drains, old pipe wrap that might be asbestos, and wet ground near wiring, and knowing what’s down there changes how you go in.
It saves time because you can diagnose from the hatch, crawl once with the right parts, and find out whether a tight spot will fit you before you’re halfway in.
And it ie helps sells the job... homeowners never see their crawlspace, so showing them the disconnected duct or the leak on a phone makes the repair much easier to approve, and the video doubles as before-and-after proof.
Pretty interesting!

Ohio gets a lot of shit for being…Ohio.
But our business has focused much of our efforts here for many reasons, like the following tailwinds:
Ohio is ranked #1 State in the country for:
-Infrastructure (CNBC)
-Cost of doing business (CNBC)
-Aerospace manufacturing attractiveness (PwC)
-Supplier state to Boeing & Airbus
-Engine Manufacturing
-Location for military aviation R&D
Ohio is ranked in the top 10 for:
-Cost of living (CNBC)
-Economy (CNBC)
-Access to capital (CNBC)
Ohio is positioning itself to lead for the next few decades.
Our pipeline of opportunities is bursting at the seams.
Come on in, the water is warm!
Round 2 of conference realignment is now underway. Curious to see who else the American Conference picks up now that they’re at an odd number.
Sun Belt will look to backfill. I’d have to think Liberty makes the most sense, in which case Conference USA is about to implode.
CUSA is easily the worst major conference, if Liberty leaves, watch schools like WKU, MTSU and maybe Delaware leave and join the MAC.
NEWS: James Madison has accepted membership to the American conference. jmusports.com/news/2026/10/1…
