BREAKING: NASA has successfully demonstrated space-to-space Wi-Fi, allowing two spacecraft to exchange data in orbit and relay it to mission controllers on Earth. During a satellite inspection demonstration, NASA's R5-S10 CubeSat established a wireless connection with Momentus' $MNTS Vigoride-7 orbital service vehicle using technology developed by Solstar Space. Over approximately 30 minutes, the mission collected more than 2,300 files, including optical imagery, infrared observations and LiDAR data. A portion of that data was transmitted between the spacecraft using Solstar's Deke Space Communicator, then relayed through Iridium's $IRDM satellite network to NASA's Johnson Space Center. The demonstration advances technology needed for autonomous satellite inspections, in-orbit servicing and spacecraft assembly, where multiple vehicles must communicate and coordinate without constant ground intervention. The mission took place in September, with Solstar announcing the communications results this week.
