🚜 Empowering Women, Transforming Agriculture! 🌱 On 5 November 2026, Citizens Foundation, under the Jal Chhajan Yojana (JJY) in #Gumla, facilitated the distribution of a Mahindra Tractors Mini Tractor to Ashok Self-Help Group (SHG), #Kori village, through convergence with the Soil Conservation Department’s SMAM scheme under the Custom Hiring Centre (CHC) initiative. The tractor was handed over in the presence of Hon’ble MLA Shri Bhushan Tirkey, Deputy Commissioner Shri Dileshwar Mahto, district officials and Citizens Foundation representatives. This initiative goes beyond providing farm machinery, it creates opportunities for women-led enterprise, collective income generation and affordable farm mechanization. Through the CHC model, SHG women can extend tractor services to small farmers, reduce cultivation costs and build sustainable livelihoods. With an estimated project cost of ₹5 crore, this additional component forms part of the Koshi–Mechi Intra-State Link Project, which aims to mitigate the impact of floods in Bihar and strengthen community resilience. Under this expanded engagement, Citizens Foundation is providing Technical and Managerial Support to the Irrigation Division, Bathnaha, for the preparation of the Land Acquisition and Resettlement Plan (LARP) for the Main Canal, covering the districts of Kishanganj and Araria.
