If HS2 was a motorway, it would have been built by now! But because new rail projects are minutely analysed with this "value for the taxpayer" nonsense. If road building was held to the same level of scrutiny, a sizable amount of the road network would still be cart tracks.

Morninβ. Today, weβre going to argue about Lime bikes. I just parked my one here in Islington. Itβs the green one. I use one almost every day. A brilliant way to get around London. Way faster than a car. βBut theyβre untidy parked everywhereβ. Yep, but imagine every Lime bike you see was a car. What an absolute nightmare that would be. And have you seen how awful parked cars make the most beautiful street look? Right, Iβm off for breakfast and coffee. Have a lovely Wednesday :)

Suggesting some people replace their single-occupant, short journey by car with a bicycle or walking always descends into this

It's madness that you keep wanting technology to go backwards. Let's see you carry a sofa on a bicycle.

The parents should be arrested for teaching their kids that streets can be for anything but cars.

I have to remind myself that it is a positive thing that tweets from accounts like Steveβs show no knowledge of chronology, and no understanding of roles in highway planning and implementation. Given their opposition to changing things for the better, itβs good they have no clue.

This explanation of why The Timesβs consumer affairs respondent turned into a reliable go-to for regular articles lobbying against safer streets and cycling in London is just so perfect.

This video posted by Vincent Stops highlights why the @NFBUK campaign against Floating Bus Stops is an astroturf anti-cycling campaign:
1. Vincent filmed it
2. He stood on the tactile paving at the crossing while filming it
3. Andrew performed for Vincent
4. Itβs a stunt π

'We cannot get rid of cars in OUR city; we are not Amsterdam!' Well, neither was #Amsterdam.
It took bold political choices, and a consistent process with smaller and bigger steps. A long-term commitment that is still ongoing!

People hate cyclists because bicycles are small and nimble and can zip through congestion in cities while you have to wait in your SUV because it's massive and not manoeuvrable and thus cannot do the same.
Makes total sense.
