I am excited to announce the @BenSasse Award from the Center for Faith and Flourishing (@CFFlourishing). The award promotes research from @JohnBrownUniv students on citizenship, religious and economic freedom, the marketplace of ideas, and more.
Stay tuned...
Progression of a campaign signage battle at a key intersection in my small town.
Local politics is the best.
There's a segment of the right, including Very Online Christians, who claim conservative Christians like me need to "get on board" with Vance 2028.
Maybe we're hesitant not because Orange Man Bad, but because Vance may turn out to be an awful candidate?

it's a little amusing that for all of his tough talk JD does not want to discuss the substance of the ad at all xitter.cf/factpostnews/status/21…

Yes. Every Christian should steward their citizenship wisely. I believe every Christian should vote. But the vote doesn’t begin in November every two years. It begins earlier. In primaries. In showing up and choosing the best candidate who matches character and policy. In local elections. In the things you choose to speak out about and those things you choose to be silent about.
If your only framework for politics is two weeks in November, you are not that engaged. You are disengaged.

I was on the stage with them for one of their debates. Eric began his remarks with “Jane, you ignorant slut.” Hard to forget something like that!
That Mr. French has debated me twice is "pure fiction." Also, he has lifted humorlessness into an art form, bringing a level of dedication to it that is genuinely impressive. Sad!

Eric Metaxas and David French participated in two public debates in 2020 about whether Christians should vote for Donald Trump one at the Q Summit and another at John Brown University. youtube.com/watch?v=CuYk4-… thewayofimprovement.blog/2020/04/25/tra… christianpost.com/news/christian…

Reading some of the coverage of Justice Kagan's interview at Catholic University yesterday, which I attended, and it seems to me to exaggerate how tough she was towared her conservative colleagues. 1/6

Well, look who went to hear Peter Thiel talk about the Antichrist!
There we see William Wolfe, Andrew Isker, Joshua Haymes … and is that Joshua Abbotoy, as well?

There is a reason they didn't simply ask the question: "Is empathy good for society or bad for society?" I'm so tired of these dumb, manipulative questions that do more to obscure reality than to clarify it.

"The solution to some of American democracy’s biggest problems might be something old and controversial: more religion."
This is a fantastic @voxdotcom review of our book. It engages with our arguments in such a thoughtful, nuanced way. Give it a read.

To the extent that religious people fall short of what their own religions teach them about living with uncertainty, that would suggest a defect not in religion itself but in the inevitable frailty of ordinary humans.

For some Christian and Muslim readers, our admonitions to "chill" might not be enough. Religion teaches us that politics is a site of imperfection and partial victories (and defeats). But accepting this fact is easier said than done.

Thoughtful review of our new book by @danielrbenn in @mereorthodoxy that also raises some potential weaknesses in our argument.

Christian Nationalism is real, but there is 100x more demand than supply.
Progressives use it to attack ordinary social conservatism and raise $.
The very online post-liberal right use it to "prove" they have popular support for their repellent and idiotic program.

@jessesmithsoc has been doing vital, lonely (I imagine) work on this for years. I'm grateful for his rigor, and for the way he's helped to contribute to my understanding of these dynamics.
