Cameron Boozer β 4+ Assists
Boozer has reached 4 or more assists in every game he has played this season. He is averaging 4.8 assists through four games, with 19 total assists that have created 48 points for teammates.
His last four games:
4 assists at Utah β
4 assists at Sacramento β
6 assists at Golden State β
5 assists vs. Utah β
Boozer is a forward who can help run the offense. He doesnβt have to score every time he gets the ball. He has shown that he can find teammates in good spots.
His strongest passing connections:
Ty Jerome: 6 assists, 16 points created
Cedric Coward: 4 assists, 11 points created
Isaiah Stewart: 3 assists, 7 points created
Jaylen Wells: 2 assists, 5 points created
Cam Spencer: 1 assist, 3 points created
GG Jackson: 1 assist, 2 points created
Four of his assists to Ty Jerome have been on made three-pointers. Boozer and Jerome have also shared 109 minutes on the court through four games.
Boozer is averaging 36.1 minutes per game. That is a lot of playing time for someone who only needs four assists.
He also averages 3.5 drives and 2 passes out of drives per game.
Memphis has assisted on 61.4% of its made baskets this season, recording 100 assists on 163 made shots.
On the road, Boozer is averaging 4.7 assists. He has recorded 6, 4, and 4 assists in his three road games.
Why 4+ makes sense: Boozer has been very steady as a passer. He plays heavy minutes, has multiple teammates who can finish shots, and has reached four assists in all four games without needing an unusually big night. The concern is that the season is still young, and four games are a small sample.

Zion Williamson β 20+ Points
Zion has scored 20 or more points in 3 of his first 4 games. He is averaging 21.8 points, 13.3 shots, and 6.3 free-throw attempts per game.
His last four games:
25 points vs. Denver β
17 points at Denver β
23 points at Utah β
22 points vs. Indiana β
Zion does most of his damage close to the basket. He has made 20 of 31 shots at the rim (64.5%) and 5 of 11 shots from the rest of the paint (45.5%). Those two areas make up 85.7% of his recorded shots.
That is important because Sacramento has struggled to protect the basket. The Kings are allowing opponents to shoot 76.9% at the rim and 51.8% from the rest of the paint.
Zion also gets points at the free-throw line. He has made 20 of 25 free throws this season, while Sacramento allows 26.8 free-throw attempts per game.
He is averaging 32.3 minutes and took 14 shots in his most recent game. Dejounte Murray has assisted 10 of Zionβs made baskets, while Trey Murphy III has assisted another 4.
Why 20+ makes sense: Zion doesnβt need to get hot from three. Most of his points come from attacking the basket and drawing fouls. Sacramento has struggled to stop both. The main concern is that New Orleans played yesterday, so Zion is on a back-to-back.

NBA Play #5 π
Magic @ Knicks
Under 224.5 (-110)
Orlando can't shoot, and it just lost the player who carried its offense.
From three: ORL 21-79 (26.6%) | league 33.6%
Paolo Banchero is out 4 to 6 weeks. He had 35 points and 16 free-throw attempts in the opener. Isaac, Nelson and Penda are out too, and Anthony Black is questionable.
Even with Banchero, the ceiling moved fast: Orlando scored 125 with him on the floor for 41 minutes against Atlanta, then 93 when he played only 26 against Minnesota.
Free throws are a big part of this. Without Banchero, Orlando's other players have drawn about 19 a game, and New York takes 24. Knicks games have had 54 and 37 combined free-throw attempts. That's a low free-throw game.
Knicks games so far: 206 and 210 total points
Teams shooting 27% or worse from three have played to the under in 11 of 15 games this season.
What could kill it: Orlando's defense has allowed 123.5 a game and 38.4% from three, and Orlando plays fast, at 106.6 possessions a game. A Knicks shooting night could get there alone.
A cold, short-handed Orlando offense, Knicks games landing in the low 200s and a low free-throw profile. Under 224.5.

Cameron Boozer (MEM) @ SAC
Assists Over 4.5 (+104)
Sacramento gives up assists, and the looks Memphis creates inside are going in.
Assists allowed: SAC 29.5 a game (3rd most)
Short paint FG% allowed: SAC 59.0% (28th) | league 44.7%
Restricted area FG% allowed: SAC 82.4% (29th) | league 67.7%
When the passes go to the paint against this defense, they turn into made baskets, and made baskets turn into assists.
Boozer starts, and with Zach Edey out he's a bigger part of the Memphis frontcourt.
Assists: 6 at GSW | 5 vs UTA
Both over 4.5
Play share: 22.8%
Minutes: 37 and 33
Range 33 to 37
Home/road: 6 on the road, 5 at home. Tonight is road.
Line: 4.5, +104.
What could kill it: the 5 came in a 20-point blowout, and Edey being out is a role change with no games behind it yet. Ty Jerome is 4th in the league in shots, and his volume can squeeze the other creators. Two games.
Both games over, a starter's minutes, plus money and a defense that gives up the 3rd-most assists. Boozer over 4.5 assists.

Darius Garland (LAC) @ OKC
Points Over 19.5 (-130)
With Beal, Ingram and Strus all out, the Clippers' offense runs through Garland.
Points: 30 vs SAC | 26 at LAL
Shots: 19 in both games
Shot volume: 19.0 a game (14th in the league)
Play share: 33.3% (17th of 388 players)
Minutes: 32 and 37. The 32 came in a 25-point win, and he still scored 30.
Home/road: 30 at home, 26 on the road. Tonight is road.
Against a top-10 defense: 26 (one game)
Foul trouble isn't much of a worry: he's had 1 and 2 fouls, and Oklahoma City draws the fewest free throws in the league (17.0 a game).
Line: 19.5, -130.
What could kill it: Oklahoma City is an elite zone defense. Rim 54.3% allowed (4th), above-break threes 30.2% (8th), midrange 28.6% (5th). 45% of his shots are above-break threes, and his 9 of 14 in the short paint will cool off. His volume only cleared the bar by a hair, and a Thunder blowout could cut his fourth quarter.
The volume and the role are locked in, and the line sits well under both games. Garland over 19.5.

Immanuel Quickley (TOR) @ MIN
Assists Over 5.5 (-115)
Quickley has run Toronto's offense in both games, and the assists have followed.
Assists: 7 vs CHI | 6 at WSH
Both over 5.5, and he's Toronto's assist leader.
Role: starting guard, 22.1% usage
Minutes: 28 and 29 (the 28 came in a 43-point win)
Home/road: 7 at home, 6 on the road. Tonight is road.
Line: 5.5, -115.
What could kill it: Minnesota allows only 25.0 assists a game (22nd most) and 82.5 shots a game (27th), so there are fewer made baskets to assist. Scottie Barnes handles the ball too. It's two games.
A starting creator who's cleared this in both games with a full assist to spare. Quickley over 5.5 assists.

NBA Play #1 π
Walker Kessler (LAL) @ UTA
Points Over 15.5 (-130)
Kessler only needs one spot on the floor, and Utah just lost the man who guards it.
Jusuf Nurkic is out for Utah, which takes away the Jazz's starting rim protector.
Kessler starts at center for the Lakers with a 22.0 usage rate. He's taken 12 and 14 shots, and almost all of them come right at the basket.
Shot zones: restricted area 18 of 21 | paint 2 of 3
At the rim: 88% of his attempts
Game log: 26 pts | 22 pts
Points per shot: 48 points on 26 shots, 1.85 a shot
At that rate he needs about 9 shots to clear 15.5. He's been at 12 and 14, so there's room even on a quiet night.
Minutes: 35 in the competitive game, 30 in a 22-point blowout
Floor 30 | base 33 | ceiling 35
He cleared this line by 5.5 or more in both games, including the blowout.
Line: 15.5, -130. Also playable at 16.5 (-103) if your book has it.
What could kill it: Utah's rim defense has been better than league average (64.4% allowed, 10th), and both of his games were at home. Tonight is his first road game.
A starting center who lives at the rim, against a frontcourt missing its starter. Kessler over 15.5.

Philadelphia gave up 31.0 rim attempts a game this preseason, and opponents made 66.9% of them.
Cleveland took 26.2 restricted-area shots a game last season and hit 67.3%.
Both rosters changed this summer, so this is last season's identity plus a small preseason sample.
Here's where each offense meets the other defense. π
