Today is the day!
My book, Walking Through Deconstruction: How To Be A Companion In A Crisis Of Faith, is officially out.
This is a book for the church, to help them understand deconstruction, lower the temperature, and faithfully love those who are going through it.
No, being fruitful and multiplying in childbearing is as close God creating man that we will ever be able to do. That is how humans create in our own image... by perpetuating God's image in humanity.

I do not think there's a problem with things being made in our image.
AI is the act of humans teaching sand to think. It's as close to God creating man that we will probably ever be able to do.
God knew we would turn sand into silicon and use those to imitate us when he told man to take Dominion.
The issue is that Transhumanism teaches that technology and AI can be man, not that it will only always and ever be in the image of man.
That's an important difference to recognize.
We shouldn’t make this. For the same reason we shouldn’t put skin on robots.
If we’re going to have intelligent machines, we need them to be something *other* than us, not made in our image. This is disastrous.
Yes to all of this.
I was asked to give a lecture next week at a church in Minnesota on what I see as the most pressing issues facing Christians. Here's my rundown I'm working on for my lecture.
— The beginning of life: Reproduction and human dignity.
— The manufacture of life: Genetic engineering and designer children.
— The simulation of life: Artificial intelligence and digital personhood.
— The enhancement of life: Transhumanism and human augmentation.
— The embodiment of life: Biological sex and bodily identity.
— The commodification of life: Surrogacy and reproductive markets.
— The manipulation of life: Surveillance, algorithms, and human agency.
— The extension of life: Longevity and the pursuit of immortality.
— The quality of life: Disability, dependency, and the meaning of dignity.
— The end of life: Assisted suicide and euthanasia.
In a word: bioethics.
The central moral question of our age is increasingly whether human nature is a gift to be received, enhanced beyond our native capacities, or a problem to be solved.
Christians need to be prepared to answer it. I am confident that our doctrine of the imago Dei, coupled with the Christian natural law tradition, provides a sufficient basis and bulwark to guide civilization, if civilization will entertain them.

Shortly after that scene in the graveyard, where Harry shows his clear ignorance of the Bible.
The he sees a "cross" of salvation in the water, jumps in after it, is almost taken under by a cursed snake, and is saved when another jumps into the waters of judgement to save him.

A retrieval of patristic spirituality should move beyond theory into the habits and practices of prayer, fasting, service, and communion.

I’m still stuck on “more like TikTok.”
I’m not against video content at all and I can’t think of lots of good examples of video done well, but man, we absolutely do not need anything to be “more like TikTok.”

This is really good. Check it out.
I’m at @mereorthodoxy today issuing a call to retrieve theological retrieval against itself. What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have theological retrieval but does not have spiritual renewal?

Why would you sacrifice depth at the exact moment all of society is being hollowed out of depth and people are craving it and seeking it out?
Give people more depth! Not less.
