Alhamdulilah, October 2026 recorded Lahore’s cleanest air in the last five years, with an average US AQI of 180.5, compared to 204.6 in 2025 and 213 in 2024.
For the first time in five years, not a single day crossed AQI 300. Even the traditionally smog-heavy final 10 days recorded significantly lower pollution levels.
This progress reflects a historic, evidence based strategy combining technology, public engagement, coordinated management, targeted mitigation and strict enforcement through a multi sectoral approach.
The establishment of Pakistan’s first Punjab Climate Watch marks an important milestone in technology enabled environmental monitoring, data driven decision making and institutional coordination.
I sincerely appreciate the Environment and Climate Change department EPA Punjab for its leadership and acknowledge the collective contribution of all departments and all enforcement agencies and field teams
My heartfelt thanks to the people of Lahore for their cooperation, awareness and collective responsibility.

A Major Milestone in Cardiac Care!
A state-of-the-art Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) has been completed and made fully operational in record time. Alhamdolillah, the first Coronary Angiogram and Angioplasty have been successfully performed!
Our first patient, Muhammad Siddique, 65 years old, a resident of Sheikhupura, presented with an Inferior Wall Myocardial Infarction (Heart Attack) complicated by Complete Heart Block.
An emergency Coronary Angiography was performed, followed by successful Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) with stenting of the Right Coronary Artery (RCA).
Alhamdolillah, the patient is now recovering well.
This is more than just the launch of a new facility; it is a significant step forward in bringing advanced cardiac care closer to our people.
Patients even from Sheikhupura and surrounding areas will no longer need to travel all the way to Lahore for life-saving cardiac procedures. Timely, state-of-the-art cardiac treatment is now accessible closer to home.
A proud achievement, a major milestone, and a big change for the people of Punjab.
