Poor Geoff - someone shouted he was a ‘dangerous dog’ today. Prejudice that can only be based on his appearance, because Geoff is one of the most dog social and people friendly dogs you could hope to meet!
Geoff was enjoying a walk in the park on a long line, politely minding his own business when a woman’s small fluffy dog ran up to Geoff who sniffed politely as he does. This boy has the best social skills and he carried on walking, but the other dog wouldn’t recall to their owner. It started jumping around in Geoff’s face. Still he politely ignored.
The woman then yelled at his foster mum to get her dangerous dog on a short lead. She replied he’s friendly, the woman said he doesn’t look it. All while her dog ignored recall and did what it liked, and Geoff had recalled perfectly to his foster mums side and was standing calmly watching her.
The woman then passed Geoff and told a family walking towards them our foster mum had a dangerous dog. The family turned back and went back the other way.
And so it begins. Spreading the misinformed prejudice. Not being able to control your own dog or have them on a lead, but labelling another as dangerous. He’s not even that big or muscular - he’s gormless Geoff for goodness sake!! A staffy cross with a big heart. It makes us sad, it makes us angry, it makes us fear what the future holds for these beautiful souls 💔
