The word "mitigate" is used as a hypnotic suggestion. And it works, especially on those in the game. When developers have to explain to regular people what they will have to do (or will end up not doing), the game falls apart. All based on models, and the models are wrong.

The money spent on this questionable research should have been directed towards definitive research such as that envisioned by ASA. This paper talks about some of the previous research and elucidates on their assumptions with the purpose of preventing mistaken test designs like these in the future, and with the purpose of improving the research program to be developed by ASA."

It’s hard to comprehend fighting something off for nearly a decade of your life. To defend the land your parents farmed, where they’re buried. To defend the wildlife and the water, the wetlands and the floodplains.
That’s what the people of Copake, NY did. And it’s finally over. The Shepherd’s Run Solar permit was officially denied.
Are there avenues that would allow a solar company to try this again? Of course. But what I’ve learned in this ORES battle is that you must pause and celebrate the wins along the way. You have to. Or else the bureaucratic hopelessness will swallow you whole.
And it’s swallowed a lot of Upstaters whole for many years. But not anymore.
If you can fight off feeling hopeless wherever you are, you’d be surprised what change you can impact when you decide to lay it all down to protect your rural town or village.
Keep the pressure on. It’s working.

🚨 ROLL CALL: The Massachusetts House just voted 126-25 to keep a transfer of up to $70 MILLION for the Massachusetts Offshore Wind Industry Investment Trust Fund.
Amendment #183 would have eliminated the transfer.
The federal government has moved to buy back offshore wind leases, and Massachusetts is fighting those efforts while continuing to put more taxpayer money behind expensive, intermittent offshore wind.
On the same day House leaders rejected even temporary gas tax relief, they voted overwhelmingly to keep spending on offshore wind.
How much more good money are taxpayers expected to throw after bad? 🌊💸

Danish Oil and Natural Gas (DONG), the energy company owned by the Kingdom of Denmark and later rebranded as Ørsted, put $15 million into a trust administered by the law firm of the late New Jersey Governor Jim Florio—which took a substantial cut. Was it any surprise that Florio became a vocal advocate for an offshore wind industry that threatened small businesses along the Jersey Shore and generations of fishing jobs?
And is it any surprise that Cape May Mayor Zach Mullock received $500,000 from this Ørsted-funded slush fund in 2026, reportedly becoming the only mayor to accept money from a fund originally intended to “grease the wheels” for offshore wind development in coastal communities up and down the Jersey Shore?
Something stinks in Cape May. And it’s not the clams.
