“Mighty oaks from little acorns grow” Is one of my favorite quotes & I was looking up the etymology & came across this earliest version by Geoffrey Chaucer circa 1385. "as an ook cometh of a litel spyr"

This weekend’s “fall back” restores natural morning sunlight, essential to health and safety. Senator Scott’s bill would forever darken mornings. Stop the Sunshine Protection Act! Amend from permanent DST to permanent ST!
This weekend, the American people will once again have to change their clocks. It’s annoying, it’s outdated, and it disrupts EVERYONE’S lives. Let’s make this the last time we go through it. It’s time for the Senate to pass my Sunshine Protection Act and send it to President Trump‘s desk ASAP.

i know we joke, but it actually makes me really sad that the internet is now flooded with fake but increasingly convincing AI-generated photos, screenshots, videos. creating an environment of paranoia and delusion and eroding our trust in everything including our own intuition

If you haven’t read Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman, you don’t understand what your phone is doing to you. He wrote it in 1985, before the internet, and it is still the best book on the subject. Postman’s point is simple. Nobody has to ban books to make people stop thinking. You just have to give them something more fun to look at. Do that long enough and they lose the ability to pay attention to anything that isn’t entertaining. The news. Politics. Their own lives. He saw it happening with television. Now it is happening in your pocket, every day. Read it and you will finally understand why you can’t focus.

Memorization has an unfairly negative reputation. I recently spent a few hours memorizing the names of all the countries in the world and it's such a clear improvement in how well I can understand and reason about other topics. Memorization is scaffolding for more complex ideas

Life is beautiful. Don't forget. Need to draw your attention to what's good, and the constant, incredible surprise is that there is so much that's good.

"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain." - Frank Herbert, Dune
