What is sleep?
A systematic takedown that outwardly resembles destruction or death, also when viewed inwardly within a generated dreamworld (temporary simulation).
What is the role of sleep?
Shutting down a system during risky or unproductive times to renew and update it.

Is one of my favorite quotes & I was looking up the etymology & came across this earliest version by Geoffrey Chaucer circa 1385.

This weekend’s “fall back” restores natural morning sunlight, essential to health and safety. Senator Scott’s bill would forever darken mornings. Stop the Sunshine Protection Act! Amend from permanent DST to permanent ST!

i know we joke, but it actually makes me really sad that the internet is now flooded with fake but increasingly convincing AI-generated photos, screenshots, videos. creating an environment of paranoia and delusion and eroding our trust in everything including our own intuition

If you haven’t read Amusing Ourselves to Death by Neil Postman, you don’t understand what your phone is doing to you. He wrote it in 1985, before the internet, and it is still the best book on the subject. Postman’s point is simple. Nobody has to ban books to make people stop thinking. You just have to give them something more fun to look at. Do that long enough and they lose the ability to pay attention to anything that isn’t entertaining. The news. Politics. Their own lives. He saw it happening with television. Now it is happening in your pocket, every day. Read it and you will finally understand why you can’t focus.

Memorization has an unfairly negative reputation. I recently spent a few hours memorizing the names of all the countries in the world and it's such a clear improvement in how well I can understand and reason about other topics. Memorization is scaffolding for more complex ideas

Life is beautiful. Don't forget. Need to draw your attention to what's good, and the constant, incredible surprise is that there is so much that's good.
