Of all the crazy things I’ve seen covering House races for 20 years, watching sitting DCCC and NRCC chairs lose in consecutive midterms is up there.

If Adam Frisch had run again he’d be in Congress right now. “But he’s lost twice” didnt matter for Rebecca Cooke or Christina Bohannan and it wouldn’t have mattered for Frisch

But but deranged online influences told me electing Scott Wiener was like sending Benjamin Netanyahu to DC!!!

Democrats won overwhelmingly on a message of affordability and the first move by the incoming Speaker is to try to weaken a bill to reduce energy costs

We were too hopeful in our assumptions that Republicans would not attempt to steal the election.
The National Republican Senatorial Committee is demanding officials across Mississippi’s 82 counties separate and preserve affidavit ballots cast in the election.
The move comes as Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith trails Democratic challenger Scott Colom.

There’s a real irony in Republicans hoping that the late mail votes in Mississippi will rescue Cindy Hyde-Smith — just months after the RNC sued to void Mississippi’s ability to count late-arriving votes and lost at SCOTUS, 5-4.

He got primaried for opposing the school voucher stuff. Trump endorsed his opponent.
Yes, Jared Golden can be an arse sometimes, but imposing purity tests on those in districts Trump won by a decent margin is asking for the party to lose. Golden did choose to retire but I can't envisage a scenario where he'd do this without a threat of a primary challenge
Imagine a scenario where Bob Good was the R nominee there. Freedom Caucus maniac deemed too extreme for leadership and was primaried. Probably helped Rs dodge a bullet
Perriello's loss is the first time I have taken out my red sharpie to circle a competitive House district since the polls closed nytimes.com/2026/11/05/us/vi…

James Talarico received *more early votes* then Paxton received in TOTAL
This race was over before it began 😭

Really, @SenatorCollins is just pissed that voters in Maine finally caught on to her scam.
She voted against Trump when her vote didn't matter — like on impeachment conviction, where there weren't the votes anyway, or to protest Trump's Iran war, because that vote was literally meaningless. But whenever her vote actually could make a difference — when she had a chance to stop Brett Kavanaugh, when she had a chance to block the Big Beautiful Bill, whenever she's ACTUALLY the deciding vote for the Republican agenda — Trump could always, always, always count on her to say yes.
Troy Jackson repeatedly made this point against her on the campaign trail. And she never had any rebuttal to it. Because it's true.
NEW: In a bitter post-defeat interview with one of her favorite beltway media errand-runners (Carl Hulse of The New York Times) Susan Collins lashes out, putting the blame for her loss squarely on the voters themselves; says Mainers lost sight of what matters. #MEpolitics

Surprised at the number of people who want these senators (specifically Colom and Andrews) to just lib out for six years. No! Democrats should never cede a race, and we should be expanding the map at every opportunity we’ve got

whenever we get a federal trifecta, we need a STAND ALONE no-nonsense bill on gerrymandering
go chase other things on separate bills

Thank you, San Francisco. I’m deeply grateful for the trust voters have placed in me, and I’m ready to get to work for you.
I want to thank Supervisor Connie Chan for a spirited and hard-fought campaign. We’ve had our disagreements, but we share a deep love for San Francisco and for our country. And thank you to our incredible campaign team, to every volunteer who walked precincts or made calls, to everyone who donated, hosted a house party, or put up a window sign, and to the labor unions, the environmental, housing, LGBTQ, and progressive organizations, the Democratic Party, and the elected officials who stood with us every step of the way. You turned this campaign into a movement.
I’m humbled to carry forward the powerful legacy of this seat — Phil Burton, Sala Burton, and the greatest Speaker in modern American history, Nancy Pelosi. Speaker Pelosi came to Congress to fight AIDS when too many wanted to look away, and she never stopped fighting for our city and our country. Madame Speaker, thank you.
This victory is also historic. For the first time ever, San Francisco will be represented in Congress by an LGBTQ person — indeed, no LGBTQ member of the House has ever represented any part of Northern California. When I stepped off the escalator at Castro Muni Station in 1997 and fell head over heels for this city, I could never have imagined this honor.
San Franciscans voted for results, and we have so much work ahead: Building the millions of homes we need; moving toward true universal health care; investing in clean energy, public transit, and high-speed rail; standing up for science, education, and immigrants; making sure people — not massive corporations — decide what works for this country, including on AI; and ensuring the rule of law applies to everyone, including the President.
It won’t be easy. But on Election Day, voters across the country delivered a powerful mandate for Democrats in Congress. I’m deeply inspired by the trust they placed in us to take big swings to lower the cost of living, stop the endless wars, hold Trump and his cronies accountable for their corruption, and rein in the threat of artificial intelligence. In Washington I’ll bring the same determination I showed in Sacramento every single day.
It’s time to deliver a better tomorrow for our city and our country.
NEW: San Francisco Supervisor Connie Chan concedes the race for Nancy Pelosi's House seat (#CA11) to state Sen. Scott Wiener.
Both are Democrats — Chan positioned herself to Wiener's left.
