Over the past few years, we've seen Americans moving to Latin America in significant numbers 🇺🇸✈️ This year, however, Europeans have been joining them in growing numbers. Residency applications from Europe are climbing steadily for Uruguay, Panama and Paraguay 🇺🇾🇵🇦🇵🇾. And of course, many high-net-worth individuals and wealthy families are already eyeing Argentina's 🇦🇷 citizenship by investment program ahead of its launch. Wealthy, mobile Europeans are being driven out by concerns over sovereignty, a struggling economy, a rising cost of living fuelled by the energy crisis, the strain of illegal migration and concerns over crime. Add to that the continent's rising taxes, including exit taxes, now in force in 9 of the 17 countries that levy them worldwide. They may be designed to keep wealth in, but they'll ultimately push the next generation of wealth out. Many have had enough, and many more are at least securing their Plan B, acknowledging that things could very well get worse. Yes, there are still some attractive options in Europe, across Southern and Eastern Europe and island nations like Cyprus and Malta, which we'll continue to offer, particularly for American clients who dream of relocating to Europe.
