Okay well I guess idk
Starting to look like a lot more has to go right for the CL for them to be able to form a govt than for the CR - Labour at 27 v Nats 28ish suggests less electorate swing and more overhang, even w/o the Mowbray effect on the margins, minor CR gain in vote share on the trend, etc

On the trends, CL govt requires: - no/minor negative impact on turnout (???), - some overhang on Māori seats (highly likely), - Nats losing net 7-10 electorates (less likely as Lab tanks) - Opp making it in (also likely), and - Nats not being able to make any deal w them (???)

Results to one decimal point are: National = 28.9% Labour = 27.3% Green Party = 14.8% ACT = 12.4% NZ first = 10.0% Opportunity Party = 6.3% TPM = 0.1%

Despite it being really wonderful to see, I did then remind myself that voting shouldn't have a poll tax. And that I have a problem with a system where rich people who can afford travel get a say, but others cannot.

Hey @MetService your weather warning in Wellington surely needs to be adjusted. You say it’s from 7pm tonight but last couple of hours have been crazy out there. Police are closing roads etc
🟠🟡Severe Weather Warnings & Watches 🟠🟡 Heavy Rain and Strong Wind Warnings and Watches have been updated as an active front is moving up the South Island today and the North Island during Tuesday. Check the details 👉 metservice.com/warnings/home

Thanks @MetService - I see you’ve just updated that warning. Would probably put that as a red rather than orange based on my experience but will leave that to the experts 😅

Good report just now by @GideyDexter on Morning Report but one quibble - Camilla Belich is certainly not safe at 23 on the list. I’d say she is in a grey zone given large number of likely/potential electorate winners lower down on Labour list or not on list at all

Luxo is like i can excuse racism but i draw the line at a party that used to talk about a land tax but doesnt any more for some reason

Strange decision to run a second commentary panel, but it's a good panel. Coughlan tremendous on pay equity & Dolly. HDPA thinks Luxo lost it badly. Dileepa says both leaders are kidding themselves that the major party malaise is temporary. Just quality all round

LGNZ have commissioned a poll on the views of Kiwis relating to their local council. Fascinating insights starting with 54% trusting their local council over central government to make decisions for their local community.

Catching the end of the multi-party debate on TVNZ1+1. Rawiri Waititi wants a referendum on the Treaty of Waitangi. Has he joined ACT?

It’s insane that finding a party leader on LinkedIn worked for Opportunity

This format does benefit the parties that are up earlier, but I think it does make for a much better debate even if it’s slightly less fair
