I don’t think it’s discussed enough how much the modern Texas GOP (and really the national GOP) is a child of the 1980s California Republican Party. In Texas, it’s even more interesting because that shift is the direct result of the modern mass migration to the state in the 80s

Can anybody name ONE example of where the political right has rigged an election in recent years? It’s almost ALWAYS the left that rigs elections. It’s comforting to know that this problem exists outside of the United States too, but it SHOULDN’T exist period.

In the future, we'll view people like Stevens as exit Democrats -- Democrats who were stepping away from the party at the same time as they were insisting they were members of it. She still believes that this is her party, that El-Sayed is a fluke. She's confused. This party is no longer her party. This is not a matter of an election or two. This is characterological. A sea change has taken place, and she cannot see it.

If I lived in DC, seeing all of the terrible pundits who oppose the foie gras ban would be all the information I’d need to vote in favor of it. It’s also notable how many of them are EA enthusiasts who reject animal rights, which is basically the only brave part of EA.
