What will it take to acknowledge our own? Can we read earlier work, without prejudice, and apply it as relevant today? What have we lost out on by only citing the West? #IndianEconomists #development #RethinkingEconomics

The reality of tree transplantation by @PMCPune 🌳💀
45 of 109 transplanted trees in KP are dead. Residents dispute even this count!
Cut their canopies, damage their roots move them & call it saving trees or disguising tree destruction as #transplantation ?
Who is accountable?

Pune’s roads: Fit for a race, but what about everyday commuters?
@PMCPune plans to improve 84 km of newly added stretches along the race route, while maintaining roads developed for the inaugural edition in January 2026

Unbelievable!!! Or not??

Very true we at @ppcr_pune meet almost all authority and shown our interest to work under their leadership on these points but nothing moving.
To reclaim its lost glory, Pune needs 3 essentials:
1. A clean, dust-free city.
2. Uncompromising law and order.
3. Robust civic infrastructure and disciplined traffic management, with enforcement on every road
A city’s glory is built on cleanliness, safety, infrastructure and connectivity.

PUNE, LOOK DOWN. THIS IS YOUR CITY TOO.
While we celebrate #Pune’s growth, look at what’s happening beneath its flyovers.
📍 Police Chowk, near Rahul Theatre makeshift shelters, garbage, mud and utter neglect.
Development above. Despair below. Is this the Pune we’re building?
A flyover is not an excuse to turn the space beneath it into a blind spot.
@navalMH @PMCPune These spaces deserve urgent action.@ppcr_pune

“The meeting was earlier postponed due to the model code of conduct…”
This Is worrisome- surely water planning during a drought is critical- timely decisions are key.
Also why aren’t there automatic rules that kick in for cuts??
#Pune city stares at deeper water cuts as dam reserves shrink, crucial quota meeting soon
Additional 20% cut likely

Remember, the real intention behind projects like road widening, flyovers, and tunnels is not to solve traffic congestion, but to mint money through tenders and contracts.
If the real goal were to solve traffic congestion, they would invest in #public #transport instead.
Pune: Heavy traffic congestion was reported on the Sinhagad Road flyover in Pune during the morning rush hour, with long queues of vehicles bringing traffic to a crawl. The congestion caused considerable inconvenience to commuters.
Vehicles lined up along the flyover as traffic movement slowed significantly, leaving several motorists stuck in long queues.
The rush of office-goers and other commuters travelling during the morning peak hours added to the traffic pressure. As a result, the Sinhagad Road flyover witnessed severe congestion, causing delays and frustration among motorists.
No time to stop for signal But all the time in the world to assault someone who did 😔
@aparanjape
@Manojpochatji you were talking about road rage- this is an incident thats caught on camera
Shocking Road Rage in Pune: Scooter Rider Brutally Assaulted for Stopping at Traffic Signal
.
.
In a shocking incident of road rage, a two-wheeler rider was brutally thrashed for merely following traffic rules at Pune's Jahangir Hospital Chowk. At around 3:08 PM today, a man riding a Jupiter scooter rightly stopped his vehicle as the traffic signal turned red. However, a four-wheeler approaching from behind rammed into him. Instead of apologizing for the collision, two men stepped out of the four-wheeler and violently assaulted the scooter rider, angrily questioning him on why he had stopped at the red light. This brazen display of hooliganism has raised serious concerns among citizens regarding road safety and law and order in the city.

Seeing many P1/P2 violations again this evening, at the same spots on Bhandarkar Road... as always.
@PuneCityTraffic
Big traffic jam on Bhandarkar Road this evening. Some vehicles stuck for nearly an hour for covering a distance of a few hundred meters. An ambulance also had a hard time going through.
Primary cause (as often) was wrongly parked vehicles (P1/P2 and no parking violations) narrowing the already narrow road.
Not seeing any regular @PuneCityTraffic enforcement activity. No traffic warden presence either. Some volunteers were trying to manage the traffic.
Many have raised this issue multiple times (parking violations in the Deccan area - Bhandarkar/Prabhat Roads and the connecting lanes).

Kahihi honar nahi. Yesterday our senior citizen guests had to get out of their car & walk through the traffic gridlock on BI road because their vehicle couldn’t move an inch.
Yesterday’s scene included 4wheelers (shamelessly) parked on both sides of Bhandarkar rd, drivers sitting inside as though their physical presence makes the vehicle invisible. 2 wheelers casually riding on the footpath.
The roads are a mess. Traffic enforcement is non existent. Citizens are inconvenienced, endangered & left to figure things out for themselves.
Meanwhile, our elected reps are hard at work; getting their names splashed across illegal festival flex hoardings & filming themselves walking in slow motion to music that suggests they are about to save the world.
Basically no one cares.
