NO ARRESTS YET AFTER DOUBLE MURDER OF ATTORNEY
Police have yet to make any arrests following the fatal shooting of Johannesburg attorney Nadine Meintjies (30) and a male passenger.
The two victims were found dead inside a Toyota Urban Cruiser at the Klipspruit West off-ramp yesterday. The vehicle had several bullet holes in the driver’s door.
Police are investigating two counts of murder.
The motive for the shooting remains unknown.
Meintjies worked on several cases, including matters involving gangs in Eldorado Park.
Her work reportedly brought her into contact with cases linked to gang-related criminal activity.
However, there is currently no evidence establishing that her legal work was connected to her killing.
No arrests have been made and police investigations are continuing.
Her murder has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity and raised serious concerns about the safety of legal professionals working on sensitive and potentially dangerous cases.

Silencing citizens based on race is wrong. Telling white South Africans we cannot comment on corruption is a dangerous double standard that undermines the very democracy we all live in.
An honest look at the last 30 years means holding two truths at the same time: Apartheid was a corrupt, bankrupt system that left a ruined foundation, but modern state capture cannot be excused or shielded from criticism because of the past.
Demanding accountability isn't a racial privilege; it's a civic duty. When billions are stolen from Eskom or public health, it hurts the entire country, especially the working class.
The ANC inherited a bankrupt state sabotaged by the Nats, but pointing to the rot of the past cannot be used to justify the tender fraud of the present.
Using historical trauma to deflect from current criminal behaviour is destructive.
You cannot build a just society by gatekeeping who gets to fight for it based on skin colour. We all have a stake in a functional South Africa.
