grimes said this was from her best date ever - a neuro surgery major asked her out and they dissected sheep brains. she said it was very romantic. (the brains were ethically sourced from a butcher who was gonna throw them out)
Never understood why deconstruction = justice rather than, say, "an eternity of carnage and slaughter, and the laughter of thirsting gods."
Oh and here's a link to my latest article which explains why it is the latter.

Enuff with these nonentities. I agree with the New Yorker: the next Bond should be Emily Blunt.
One source speculated that the mystery actor testing for 007 is an actor of color whose name is being withheld to spare him the inevitable racist vitriol that would be unleashed online — vitriol that may not be worth it unless he ultimately lands the role.

Brexit has not been “reopened because of Andy Burnham”, but because:
- it’s turned out to be a costly mistake
- geopolitics shows we can’t rely on the US, but need to work with our neighbours with whom we share common interests
- the public has turned against it

Three down. Three left.
The people have spoken. We have had enough of the chaos, the hatred, the corruption, and the authoritarian idiots who think the world belongs to them.
Orbán, Bolsonaro and Vučić have all been rejected by voters.
Today, Netanyahu could be next. And Trump looks increasingly likely to earn his own big red cross in the midterms.
That leaves Putin.
The rest of us must make sure Moscow gets its red cross too, by giving Ukraine everything it needs to defeat Russia’s imperial ambitions.
The age of «strongmen» is looking a little less strong. And that is a beautiful thing.
Remember when you could wake up in the morning without wondering which country was being threatened, which ally had been insulted, or which international crisis had been manufactured overnight by a man with an oversized ego?
When politics was often boring, diplomacy happened behind closed doors, and world leaders generally tried to solve problems instead of creating three new ones before breakfast?
It wasn’t a perfect world. Far from it. But there was a certain peace in not having to listen to angry old men demanding the world’s attention every single day.
Imagine getting that peace back. Imagine a world where the morning news is about progress, discoveries and possibilities, rather than the latest threats, lies and tantrums.
We deserve that world again.

I’m so happy that Nance and I finally got the chance to have a conversation with the one and only Damien Walter (whose YouTube channel is one of our favorites)! Check it out! Link in comments.

I was invited to panel w/Zizek a few y ago. So I read 2 of his books & couldn't figure out what it was abt, so I declined. I now bitterly regret missing the occasion as I attended one of his lectures and althought I still understood nothing I found him playfull & mesmerizing.
Hard to believe it could be worse than Nolan's snorefest
Elon Musk's anti-woke Grok-fueled take on 'The Odyssey' gets called "zombie-like."
A critic for The Telegraph wrote that the footage — made with AI specialists Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker — is “so unsettling you can feel your eyeballs twitch at its sloppy gruesomeness … the glassy-eyed characters, with their expressionless voices, give the episode a zombie-like quality … Penelope looks completely different in each scene … a take on the tale of Troy that deserves to be put to the sword, burned to the ground and hidden forever beneath the sands of time.” bit.ly/47MhisO

The question of who will be the next James Bond has yielded all too many names drifting in and out of the frame: Idris Elba, Henry Cavill, Jacob Elordi, Tom Hardy, and Paul Mescal, to name just a few. Now the search for the next 007 seems to have reached its climax. Who are the purported finalists for the role? Who in his right mind would even want to be Bond? And why do we still care who Bond is or isn’t? “James Bond, in truth, was never much of a character. He was a name with a dream attached—an expensively tailored suit, into which a succession of actors could slip,” Anthony Lane writes. Read his reflection on the search: newyorker.com/culture/annals…
