Our “Exit Poll” in British Columbia: Only 31% of #bcpoli voters say they would have cast a ballot for the BC Conservatives under John Rustad and just 25% say they would have done the same had Kerry-Lynne Findlay remained as leader.

Here is the result of the 2026 Vancouver mayoral election by neighbourhood. Fry crushed Sim north of 16th along the Broadway corridor, but ABC still retained some strength especially in more ethnically diverse parts of south Vancouver and the west side.

Same way people want to do something about climate change but refuse to pay 17c a litter of gasoline to do so, people want to fix the housing crisis but hate... A freaking fourplex!
We're not going to fix any of our big problems not because our politicians suck but because voters suck
We managed to control the deficit in the 90s but that was a different era with people being less stupid and less selfish. We're not going to fix it this time. And people won't care
I knocked on nearly 10 thousand doors during my election campaign for @SurreyFirst2026 and residents told me they’re furious with these four/sixplexes going up in their ‘hoods, imposed upon municipalities by the province @JasJohalBC @jessieksunner @amnashahbc

The BC NDP platform has revenues from increased income tax that are completely unrealistic once we account for behavioral responses
The BC cons have imaginary 'pro growth' extra revenues with zero justification
Our two main parties in BC are deeply unserious

There's literally no discourse I hate more online than when it comes to seniors and property tax
For some weird reasons this is a topic that turns regular conservative people into full on socialists

Old people will collect OAS, subsidized CPP, disproportionately benefit from free healthcare and then still demand they get more freebies from the government. Then they will have the nerve to call you a communist for not wanting to give them more gimmes.

Liberals and conservatives both want to help victims; they just disagree about who the victims are.
Liberals see victimhood as group-based, dividing the world into the vulnerable oppressed and invulnerable oppressors.
Conservatives see victimhood as individual-based and more evenly distributed across groups.

Context: This would raise BC to the highest income tax rate since 1981, and make the province (by a decent margin) the highest tax rate jurisdiction in Canada. The gap with Alberta would be back at 1990s levels.

What’s the evidence on rent control?
I charted the findings from 112 studies:
Great for rent-controlled tenants ✅
But:
Pushes up rents for other people ❌
Pushes down new housing construction ❌
Pushes down building quality ❌
