I am crushed and angry. After an inspiring 2-day huddle on walkability w/ @americawalks, I learned that two pedestrians died on @CityofCostaMesa streets incl. on a @CaltransOC road we know is dangerous & deadly. Pedestrian deaths are preventable, unacceptable, and must be ended. – at Nashville, TN

Tonight, the city of Irvine will designate Oct. 27 as Millie Rose Scooter Safety Day in honor of a two year old who was killed ON THE SIDEWALK by a minivan last year. A thread on @cityofirvine transportation harms. 🧵 – at Irvine, CA

Exciting to see the many residents who spoke for #climateaction and a new Climate Action Plan for @CitySanClemente tonight. The SC CAP was adopted almost 10 years ago. It's time for a refresh.

Joining forces for change in Garden Grove! 💚 As we advocate for the implementation of Garden Grove's first Climate Action Plan (CAP) to protect communities most vulnerable to climate impacts, we're working to bridge the gap and create an equitable and sustainable SoCal.

Last week in OC: “A majority of supervisors – w the exception of Foley and Sarmiento – voted to disagree… that “climate change is inevitable and exacerbated by human behavior.” 😳 Shocking + totally unsurprising. TY @SupervisorFoley + @OCSupSarmiento voiceofoc.org/2023/08/some-o… – at Irvine, CA

It's disappointing when our elected leaders say they're "at a loss" on climate change when SoCal has been baking under hellish conditions this summer. @SupChaffee4 @Donald_Wagner @joinandrewdo we expect more from you. Please act on climate at @OCGovCA. 🌍🌍🌍

@SupChaffee4, it's interesting to hear you say you're "at a loss" on climate when you pledged to support a number of policies in our Guide last Fall, including a county Climate Action Plan. @OCGovCA has a crucial role in addressing climate. But it seems you already know that.🌍

Insightful piece from @JournoBrooke @ocregister on the role of gender in climate work. Thx for including @OC_Climate & me. 🧵 Why are women more concerned about climate change than men? ocregister.com/2023/08/04/wh… – at Irvine, CA

Here to ask for approval of item 22 - a key step toward cleaner air and decarbonizing our region. SoCal has the most ozone-polluted air in the US according to @LungAssociation. Fossil fuel appliance pollution killed 500+ people in CA in 2017 - this must change. @SouthCoastAQMD

A strong Climate Action Plan is the cornerstone of a city's climate policy. Voters want and deserve a CAP with specific timelines, goals, and measures for equity. @cityofirvine needs a CAAP that gets us to zero carbon by 2030.
🚨 Action Alert 🚨 Irvine released its draft Climate Action and Adaptation Plan (CAAP), but it falls short of our #zerocarbon goals for 2030. We deserve a future with clean air, clean water, and a safe environment!

Activists have been fighting six years for a CAAP, but @City_of_Irvine's draft falls woefully short of #zerocarbon by 2030. Join us tomorrow (6/27) to demand a strong and equitable climate action plan!
